You make tyranids look so easy. My list is very similar to yours, but I find anything that I deploy on the board gets blown away in the first turn. It's really hard to find cover for 15+ genstealers or a big brood of gants.

Go Nids!

Bad matchup for him against your 38 preferred enemy, FNP'd genestealers (or half of them, at least).

Hive guards are the best against nobs.

Glad you are doing some more battle reports, did you end up making it to the 'ard boyz style tournament last month at Millenium?

Yup, 3 of the 20 batreps I'm sitting on are from that event. I went 2-0, then lost a very close game against Meph and 5 dreads.

That is a tough list to face, it seems like Meph is the bane of your existence as well.

For deployment in this report you mention it was Dawn of War and you deployed the two Tyrant Guard and the Hive Tyrant. Doesn't this exceed your maximum one HQ choice? It is not like a Canoness or WH Inquisitor Lord where the whole unit has to come with the retinue attached and counts as a single choice...I could be wrong I do not own the Tyranid codex.

Going by INAT, guard joined to a Tyrant count as a single unit. In DoW, you get to deploy them together, and in Kill Point missions they are worth only 1 KP.

Thanks, that is interesting it must operate like an IG blob squad then. I suppose it is because the Tyrant can never leave the guard unit?

Right. ATC using INAT was a large factor in my final list choices as every game counted KPs and the DoW thing.

Question, on your blog
"I fire both units of hive guard into the nobs, denying cover and FnP and slaying many"

I may have misread that, but how did you deny FNP to the Nobs?

Oh! Right, I forget that tidbit a lot, as I always seem to think of avoiding FNP in Ap 1,2 and Power weapons. Thanks.

I wish I could have been there to see CC smack talking Sparks...

That list is a terrible matchup for your nids, let alone when Sparks plays them. This is one case when having some Ymargls might have made a difference, what do you think?

Lovely reports as ever man, good detail and really nice army. I think I'd prefer larger pictures if possible, otherwise however they're as good as always; I love seeing people put the 'nids to good use and I'm always sure to read your reports.

Awesome reports. So glad to see these, both because your reports always rock, and because I was so bummed out to not make this event. Was curious to hear about the X-Men and Da Boyz, too, as you're both such good teams, and I've played several of you.

Definately. They're turning out to be one of those units you just don't leave home without.

It seems that Sparks has units all over the place but there is a definite method to the madness. It was a tough matchup and tough setup as well. The Xmen is almost like choosing the all Madden team.

I think Meph is the bane of everyone's existence!! Specially when the opponent with him cheats and tries for cover saves on the face of a hill, claims 5 wounds, and casts I think 5-6 psychic abilities every round....

Nice recap of the game, that army really rocks I love his conversions and they made for some great pictures. Do you think the dual force weapon (we mentioned it before) activation made that much of a difference overall? I agree it might have been better to let Meph pound on some gaunts rather than hit the tyrant and try to win assault by killing expensive marines instead.

@calypso - The double activation of his force weapon didn't change much. He still inflicted 4 wounds putting one on the tyrant and 3 on guards. He still would have forced out the tyrant and the guards would have taken 3 instead of 4. Because I multi-assaulted the marines also, the surviving guard had to take like 9 no retreat saves and I would have lost the unit either way.

Awesome reports! I just started playing nids recently and your batreps are very helpful for tactic and list ideas! I've heard BA are, well, pretty ba, hahaha, so I'm impressed you tied, and that was when you weren't even at your peak performance.

Yeah I actually played BA twice that weekend. Once in the main event and once during the doubles event (not batrep'd yet). Both lists had Meph and both were draws hehe. I usually do decent against BA compared to my games against wolves and eldar. Most of their army wants to be close, which is good for nids. It just comes down to whether or not I can tarpit Meph.

Nice report, it seems like the Tau played it really well to keep out of range of your assaulty elements overall. I kept waiting for you to close with him, but you were really bound tightly to that terrain piece unless you got a great mtc and fleet roll.

Looking forward to the BOLS report, courtney told me a bit about those games this afternoon and they sounded fun.
