I'm probably going to get hideously flamed for this, but at 125 pages I am NOT going through them all to find the answer (I think we can call this a justifiable case of TL R).
Is there a dakka^2 minecraft server? seems like you all play on same space, and I've been looking for a nice SMP server, as SSP is getting a bit lonely now...

I honestly cannot believe how much herp I just derped
Then again I came into the thread directly from the the forum index rather than through the actual video games forum, so I suppose I'm not that stupid...
Thanks yakface!
EDIT:
In addition, can someone give me a nice old rundown of the rules and etiquette of the server? I have read the sticky but nothing there, and I am in work so cannot access minecraft at all at present.
Building wise, I like to build labyrinthine warrens inside mountains, preferably using natural cave systems as corridors, anyone think I'll have a problem fitting in around the server?

normal server rules really, but it's recommended not to build too close to the main area known as "dakkatown" because it's rather congested.

Yeh, I had to go a resnobal distance out for just a small house. If you want something massive, it's best to link it via the nether.

How far apart to portals have to be so not to both link to the same exit.

Actually, given some of the troubles we've had, I recommend building at least three to four hundred blocks away from someone if you want a massive structure, unless you have their permission. Hell, a lot of people will give you permission to build something small on their property if it isn't an eyesore (IE, stereotypical cobblestone cube).

As a side note, important to anyone mining: As of this patch, be careful when you get close to the last block of your pick. The last block you destroy with a pick is nonrecoverable as if it was destroyed by hand. I learned this the hard way with a diamond ore. It's just far enough away that it's okay, but I would prefer you not to mine down... Corpses and I have tunnels and mines running between his tower and my home, and I'm sure Nick has plenty of mines near there too.

Download some mods like Mos Creatures or the Water mod, they can really enhance gameplay.
Try to breed a black pegasus or drain an ocean.

Anything I build topside will be pretty small, and the biggest I ever go is about 20x20 (too lazy for grander structures). All of which I usually build underground, in fact my ideas for my current build will be at bedrock level anyway.
It involves a bell, a spiral staircase, and a base at the bottom.

I did find some tunnles, and reported them on here. I was told the were the sewers, so I diverted my mine to avoid them.
I have now mined down to bedrock, and I assume your tunnles don't run that deep.

That doesn't mean anything.
Keep in mind, I'm notoriously territorial.

Should be the same as the way to apply mods in the windows one, modifying the minecraft.jar file unless it uses a different one, have no idea if it does.
As for mods, I'd recommend Humans Plus. Adds a bunch of mobs into the game, some passive some hostile. I think it had a morale system in it as well to help with which are hostile or friendly to you, but I'm not sure.

If you want a whole different play style, you could try the planetoids mod.
It makes it so that the world is generated in spheres of different materials, which you have to bridge between.
