Hi All

A quick question, I used my Daemon Prince in a recent battle and equipped him with the lash of submission psychic power. I played against orks and wanted to know whether I could single out an independant character (warboss for example) who is attached to a group of boys? If so, then brillian, if not then it seems rather a waste of 3 points!

So can I lash him out of the group?

Cheers
Andy

Sorry to tell you this but Lash of Submission only targets the unit and not independant character.

Nope, lash allows you to move a target around, however an IC that is part of a unit can't be moved out of coherency. Check the chaos FAQ for more info on lash.

Best use of it though, is tossing your enemies deathstar unit away so it can't do crap.

My buddy likes to do stuff like form of a flamer template or run into dangerous terrain.

you could though spread the unit way out with the IC at the head of it (or the back) so you can target him in assault or break him in combat without having to fight him.

That would be a Warboss in a Nobz unit filled to the brim with Powerklaws, dragging along a Painboy... Imagine the daemon prince screaming "get away from me" like a big sissy while using this power.

Yeah the daemon prince would be funny for doing that! I only managed to use it once in my game, the last unit was a shokk attack ork in a building and I couldn't be bothered to go into the building, so lashed him down around 2" away from nasty mr Abbadon who promptly squashed him to a bloody pulp with Horus' talon!!

Thanks for the replies, reading them has made me think - if the warboss is with the said unit of boys, could I have lashed the whole lot of them, being the unit that is?

Yes you can move a whole unit, it's much fun moving them all over dangerous terrain btw.

Or just moving them into pieplate shapes, so you can oblit / defiler / etc hit them, or just to move them away from combats so you can take the enemy apart piece by piece

I'm sure you'll figure out the true potential for sleaziness on your own, but some popular options for Lash of Submission are:

Lash things toward you, so you can assault them.
Lash things away from you, so they don't assault you.
Lash things into clusters and hit them with templates.
Lash infantry in a ball around in Independent Character so the IC can't Pile In to hand to hand that round.
Lash infantry into a long line, with the "damage dealing" CC weapon as far away as possible, so when you assault, it won't make 2" of an engaged model.
Lash them into a long line that can be assaulted by two units.
Lash enemies out of cover, particularly effective against crappy sv targets with stealth (ie: Pathfinders).
Lash things off of objectives in the last turn of the game.
Lash heavy weapon troopers out of LoS so they lose their next turn of shooting moving back into position.

It's really the most obnoxious thing in the world if you know how to do it properly. Good luck!

Another one: move models out of unit coherency so that they have to move like into coherency the next turn (unless they are pinned, in which case they lose two turns of moving).

Yep, all your gaming buddies are really going to love you now.

You know it's bad when your friends say, "Ugh, can't you bring your Mech Vets instead?"

Lash is a move. You cannot move models out of coherency during a move.

FAQ confirms it

Is it the same with A Word In Your Ear?
