Hi all!

Me and Ed have been posting in our project logs (links in the sig) for a little while now showing the development of our sexy bases and Valkyrie conversion kit, and at long last our website is up and (mostly ) functional, so you can now buy our lovely bits without needing to talk to us at all! We've just had our banner ad put on this lovely site, it's like we're proper grown ups and everything!

We're still refining things and adding pictures to the site, and the Valkyrie kit will be up once I find the time to machine all the masters, so check back regularly. We'll be continuing to update our project logs, which will be a bit more frequent once the website's done and dusted. There will be bulk discounts and special offer discount codes for dakkanauts in the future, but in the meantime if anyone has any big orders or wants to enquire about custom bases email us at orders@warmill.co.uk.

Thanks for all the support of the guys who've been following our thread, it's really helped us keep going during those times when our day jobs have been burning us out and the evenings have consisted of staring at a computer screen and trying to remember what the clicky thing in our right hands did

I like the bases in this thread, but not really certain how I feel about your jewel bases.
Are they intended to be left as-is or painted?

Seems to me that part of their aesthtic and draw is the way they look *as jewel bases*. Once you try to attach a model to one, though, and you (a) have to drill a hole for the foot pin or (b) squirt your superglue too heavily, you're just making it likely that you're going to mar the face of the base & screw up the look.

Just a thought.

Eric

They take paint very well, the big base up there started life as clear acrylic. When we started we figured people would want to paint them, but it seemed people on the thread liked the clear look. Lorna on here has a couple of pictures of his blood angels on some custom bases we made him to give you an idea of how they look clear.

We painted and flocked some as well at the start and they looked pretty hot, we'll be painting up a couple from each range to show different ways of using them. There's a couple of pics at the start of the thread of Templar bases all flocked up.

As far as not wrecking the acrylic, most superglue will ruin them so we're writing a guide to using acrylic for te website and to send out with orders, but in short you can use plastic cement like humbrol, acrylic-safe superglue or EMA plastic weld without damaging them.

Hope this helps

Harry

How about square ones for fantasy.. where you could do 20mm and 25mm, but have a one big design across all of them so like if you ranked up a block of 5x5 it could look like they're standing on one huge chaos symbol or something like that?

You're pretty good on your 'generic naming' warmill XD. The kinda display case style isn't for me but if they are the right price i can see you having every success with these.

I like the display base.
What base sizes are you planning on making them in?
Are you going to make any for larger squads?

Having done a bit of research, you'd be surprised what names aren't registered trademarks

The Aquila display base will be available as a multi-part 124x94mm base, either as a squad display base with the circles cut out or without as a single figure base. We did a custom Aurora Chapter display base for someone that was about 200x150mm and would easily take 10 bases, so we will likely add the base size and squad numbers as a drop down menu within the product page on the website, so you pick the base size, colour / finish then 5 or 10 man options.

Thanks, we wanted to do something different to what's already out there, and maybe bring a different style to the table. Lots of people are doing very nice resin bases, but we fancied a more graphical style, sort of like battle reports in the flesh. Time will tell whether it's something enough people want for their own armies to be worthwhile, though I reckon once an army or two shows up on our stock or custom bases there could be some interest

Digging the bases thus far. Some of the bigger ones look too nice to glue a mini to them.

Might have to drill out two holes in the bottom of the base, glue in magnets, and place magnets in the model's feet to keep them secured.

I don't even KNOW anymore.

Not terribly interested in them as bases, but they would make fantastic objective markers.

Do you guys do completely clear bases i.e. with no detail on them at all so one can see through to the terrain underneath?

Hardly seems worth it We'll add a pack of plain bases to the site. We're going to do some with just borders and no central image as well, so most of it is still clear but there's still a bit of engraved detail on there. We have plans for some resin bases as well, but as with the Jewel bases they'll be a bit more graphical than scenic.

I'm pleased with my custom order - I just had to give them a bit of a wash and scrub under a tap to clear off the bit of dusty residue from the engraving process* and then they looked great.

I'm looking forward to adding figures to them (hopefully in the near future)

All of those bases are really great. Got any plans for some eldar bases? I saw the clear yellow plastic "Eldritch" bases. I was thinking along the lines of solid and painted like some of the SM orientated stuff.

Oh yes there will be more! We reckon Eldar armies will really look hot on them, there will be sexy flying stands in the near future as well. Ed's doing Eldar for Armies on parade so we'll be doing some bases for that. I need to come up with a good design for my Cadians as well, so much to do!

Many thanks Lorna and SilverMk2, you guys have been stars!

Good deal man. May I recommend something that looks like a wraithbone floor wth adorning symbols.

Looking forward to seeing the eldar stuff. You may have yourself another dedicated customer!
