FOR NEW UPDATED PICS, SCROLL DOWN TO THE NEWEST POST!

So with a little bit of inspiration a few nights ago I decided it was about time I put the fimo putty I had sitting in the back of my hobby drawer to good use. What started as a practice sculpt for a head lead to an idea that eventually turned into a mockup aluminum foil body, which I then coated in some more clay. After about 5 more bakes in the oven, I think I am finally to the point where I can do no more with the clay and must move on to green stuff (which I have never worked with before). Please note that this is my first real sculpt that I've spent any real amount of time on, so any constructive criticism would be much appreciated.

Sorry about the below par pictures, the money I was going to spend on a new digital camera instead went to a new Asus transformer which by some miracle got accidently delivered t the store where i work.

Also not that any place you see white besides the face ad cloak will be getting some greenstuff. The weapon in his right hand is a bile spewer which will be heavily greenstuffed and modded with tubes and whatnot

TLDR: big daemon, check out the piccies!

The big baddy blu tacced together, note the 60mm base

Back of the mini

More full frontal

And him parted out for sanity during continued sculpting and painting

To do list:
Order green stuff
Add various more detailed sores, boils, open wounds etc.
Work on details of the bile spewer, and make it built in to his arm
Put a lot of details on the scythe
Figure out what I'm doing with the cloak
Figure out water effects for tube on back and tank
Put detail on the left pec
Cover all areas that I modeled as muscle with flaps of skin, only occasionally showing through

Looking at the how the cloak is hanging and the quality of the intestines and the ribbing on the pipes I don't think you'll have any problems with sculpting quality

I would just say that, I'm not sure if it's down to the perspective in the pictures or not but the position of the legs looks a bit like he's trying not to wet himself. Maybe bringing the leading leg forward slightly or pulling both legs apart slightly would improve it, as the top half is looking really good and dynamic, but the legs just don't quite gel with it as I see it.

Just my 2p, good luck with the rest of the sculpt!

Finland... the country next to Sweden? No! That's Norway! Finland is to the east! No! That's Russia!

It looks like a murderous teddy bear

Jokes aside, the model is looking pretty good, and I think the bucket conversion on the back is from the FW daemon called Mamon if I am not mistaken. Overall the model is pretty cool, but the use of clay is a bit weird... I prefer Grey stuff, or play dough (play dough works much better than you think, if the quality is good).

Glad if I could help

Sweet Jesus, Nurgle and Slaanesh in the same box!?

@buttler - thanks! hope I wont disappoint

@warmill - the funny thing is, the tubing, cloak, and intestines were some of the easier parts. The tubing is done with long tubes of the clay, which are then rolled with the flat end of a sculpting tool in as uniform a way as I could. I did the same thing with the intestines , but instead of going for a uniform look, they are done in a much more uneven way. The cloak was simple done by rolling out a huge flat piece of clay, which I then cut to what I thought would be a good size for the cloak. I then draped it over where I wanted it to cover, and scraped lines into it which will hopefully show better when I paint them as a patchwork skin cloak.

You are absolutely correct about the legs being very odd. When I made the foil body, they were much more dynamic, but also much Skinnier. As I bulked them out, I lost a bunch of what details used to be there. I will see what needs to be done to Do a little bit of repositioning on the legs, and if it won't hurt them too much, I will test my luck on that

@slugga - isn't every daemon gifted with papa nurgles gift of pestilence just a big Teddy bear looking to be held? Haha.

I did get inspiration from the forgeworld model that you mentioned, and hopefully after a liberal coating of green stuff I will be able to live up to that downright amazing model. The use of the fimo clay was more of a way to get my feet wet in sculpting than anything else. I got it from the local craft store because I didn't feel like putting $8 down on green stuff online that I may never use, when I could buy the fimo at the local craft shop and use it right off the bat.

Edit - ninja by two more comments as I was replying

@perk - trust me, once I get that green stuff in my hands, and can put plastic bits on this bad boy without melting them in the oven, you will notice a world of difference. The clay doesn't keep detail even half as well as gs from what I can tell

@blackskull - thanks

Thanks for all the comments guys, I will be ordering some green stuff today, and test to see what it would take to reposition the leg. If all else fails, he will be getting a loin cloth anyway, so that will draw a little attention away from the pose. Again, all comments are welcome!

Green stuff came in today, and I must say, this stuff is a dream to sculpt nurgle minis with. Lots of sores and boils added, as well as the weapons getting alot of work. I'll post a bunch of pictures tomorrow when I can get some decent light!

Alrighty! Update time. This is what I've accomplished in probably about 3 or 4 hours yesterday. Still a lot of stuff I need to do, but he is definitely starting to come together. I decided to reinvent the gun arm, because the way i was planning it before just didnt end up very nurgley. Without further ado, here are some pictures!

More pictures are in my gallery. Next things I'm going to be taking care of are the feet, loin cloth, and probably some more skin details. As always, thoughts/comments/criticisms are much appreciated

Nice start although I would suggest that the cloth over his head is roughed up a bit as it looks far too neat along the edges.

Well it's been a while, but I'm back.. along with quite a few updates for the big guy. He is basically ready for an undercoat, and you'll notice that he already has had a spray or two. I always seem to get ahead of myself, and I went back and added some stuff after that initial spray on his back. Also not that the tube on the back is covered in blu tac for ease of base coating. As soon as I finish, you will be able to see the awesome effect that I did on the tube... but we will leave that for now.

Anyways, pictures are better than words so enjoy.

New updates!

Note that this paintjob is just a few washes to draw out the details so everyone can see more about what this guy is all about. Expect something much crisper when I actually start painting him. Thinking of either going a green, or a sickly flesh color for the skin, but my lack of painting skill will probably limit me alot.

Also, something that I haven't had in any of the previous updates, the tube on his back! I'm sure it's heresy, but its actually filled with used cleaning product. Ironic maybe?

Oh well, here you go! Comments and criticisms are always appreciated

And a new little project I've started on:

Some of the images got deleted, so check out the new ones in the latest post!

Nice work on this, you've done a great job adding in rich (but disgusting!) textural details, but its feet are a little too close together, giving it a cartoonish look. I'd be interested to see the full paint job.

p.s., i like the poor guy trapped inside...now that would be a horrific fate!

@Slugga Thanks for the compliments, I assure you my painting will come to disappoint very soon =P I'm currently working completely with craft paint acrylics, and in college with basically no income to buy anything, until i start working again in the summer.

@Cave I agree about the feet, but as my first sculpt, its bound to have a few flaws. Its far too late to go back, but I'm still ubbbeeerrr proud of him. Also, If i ever write fluff about him, it will be the guy in his guts that talks to seduces people into the plaguefather's arms =D I see him as a "Living experiment" to whatever rots the daemon might be cooking up.

Okay, new updates.

I painted this guy a little, but my mind seems to be going off on it's own little tangents now as I try to improve my sculpting, so the painting progress is sort of slim. To make up for it, however, I have included some pictures of my (very) work in progress Herald on Palanquin and (Soon to be) winged daemon prince. Without further adieu, PICCIES

Like I said, the last two are VERY WIP, and subject to change at my discretion =P Comments and criticisms are appreciated, so tear me apart!
