Unhealthy Competition With Other Legions
|
I am currently trying to figure out a solid well rounded list for next sunday, 1750 point 40k tournament, Thanks. HQ: Keeper of Secrets with Musk=220 Fateweaver=333 Elite: 5 Bloodcrushers with full command=240 Troop: 5 Plaguebearers=75 5 Horrors with bolt=95 4 Horrors with 1 changeling with 1 bolt=100 10 Bloodletters w icon and fury=195 Fast Attack: 10 Seekers w 1 gaze=175 heavy: Prince with tzeentch+bolt=140 Prince with hide/nurgle/cloud=145 Total is 1718 Any advice what to take out, what to edit, is appreciated, and what should the extra points go to? I have access for 9 more flamers, 10 more letters, up to 30 daemonnettes, 2 fiends, and a bloodthirster(which I may replace for the keeper, and 5 screamers)

Keeper far out class's the blood thirster so dont bother lol
I would think about adding more fiends as that 12" charge and rending is dirty. Not to mention 5 attacks and high strengh values

Yeah once I get four more fiends I will try to fiend a squad of six and just rend everything. hmm you think KoS is better than thirster? thirster has higher str, furious charge, and WS10, while Keeper has highest I possible with six attacks. Also, fleet vs flying :/ I almost think thirster is better for drawing fire and putting out damage.

Horrors are fine. Fateweaver is just mean with crushers. lol
I would drop the 2 princes for lots-o-fiends and some flamers. Seems like you got a tzeentch heavy army.
Also the keeper is only worth it if you give it the Pavane, and for those points you should take the bluescribes and the Masque. She is just plain awesome.
The masque is like the heidden gem of the daemons as i am QUICKLY finding out. She can dance that nice costly HQ or elties squad of your opponents right into your flamers/crushers/fiends
She provides the tactical adv that the daemons need in competitions. Just make them dance!

I got to disagree with Soul Grinder here and recommended you never give the Keeper pavane. Rolling to hit with BS 4 and than a D6 is not as reliable as simply fleeting to the target. Musk and Might is the way to go with the Keeper, consider both mandatory.
I love Bloodletters I really do, they just do not fit your list well at all imo. I would drop the seekers too. Hounds > Seekers I have come to learn.
But going with your models. I think something like this would be more effective. But in all honesty your going to need more fiends or crushers to be competitive.

The reason the Panave works is to move the enemy in or out of range. Even if its ONE inch, that could be the make or break point. The masque is better than a keeper when it comes to the pavane, so sanateaph if you read the comment, i said DROP the keeper and take the masque. She gives 3 chances to move things around and if needed she can move the same unit closer and closer and closer until WHAM! The bloods do what they do best.

The rules for pavane state it can only be used once per turn on any one unit so you cannot bust out three against one unit. It would have to be three different units.

Umm...
Huge fan of the Bloodthirster here.
Bloodthirster + Might + Blessings = 275 and there is absolutely nothing that can stop him (especially if he is in the Fateweaver bubble) in close combat.
The other thing that a might'd bloodthirster affords you is something that Daemons lack army wide, a consistent popper of AV14
Str9 (7 + Furious Charge + Might) + the monstrous creature 2d6 is going to produce PLENTY of penetrating hits against that Monolith or Land Raider.
In short: I'm a huge fan of Bloodthirster + Fateweaver as Daemons HQ choices.

I'm going to have to agree with Sanateaph's view on Pavane 'An enemy unit may only be moved by this gift once per turn' Another thing I remember reading awhile back by someone who played all Slaanesh daemon's was that Pavane was really only useful on DP's cause of there lack of fleet. Since Pavane is considered a 'Ranged Weapon' you can't Run & Shoot you do one or the other so Having Fleet & Pavane is Folly unless its Pavane on a DP anyway.... I have heard good things about the Masque as Soul Grinder has said its something to play with but you have to work her to the center of the battle and hopefully its calm.
The only other thing I think is funny is the fact that Chaos Space Marine's now considered to have the lack luster powers of chaos now have something actually Viable such as DP's with Lash of Submission. Course The Masque with 2x DP with Lash of Submission MIGHT.... be a little much.... but in the end you have to wonder if Lash of Submission is a lesser power and is with the Chaos Space Marines why isn't it with Chaos Daemons as well... I really hope when they redo Chaos Marines & Daemon's and they upgrade them with better material and options cause they both seem watered down ever since the split sadly. =/

Are you sure you need 5 crushers or would 4 be enough? (im not sure coz im just starting daemons)
And Im HUGE fan of fiends, they are awesome with 5 rending attacks (6 if (or when) you charge)
Crushers become so much better if you add khorne herald or skulltaker,
I usually take 3 crushers with skulltaker.
And NEVER take pavane for KoS coz you can fleet.

Skulltaker sucks. I brought him to a fight and he was wasted with little effort.
@Sanataeph- you're right totally forgot that pavane cant be used on same unit. Fek. But that still helps greatly when using template weapons though. Flamers are really useful in combination. Espically against those pesky orks.
