I got 2 finecast blisters for armies I dont collect as a presant,
Namely: Njarl Stormcaller and a Succubus
They are in perfect, unopened condition
does anyone know what GWs policy is on returns?
I dont have the receipt, but I dont want cash, I just want to swap it for something of equal or lesser value, like some paint or terrain.
Any Ideas?

They should be fine with it.
My stepson got Space Marines for Christmas, when he collected Tyranids, from his Uncle up North and our store in Reading, down South, were kind enough to exchange for the same value.
He doesn't game anymore either so now I have two armies!
Edit: Thinking about it though we did have the receipt. So if you explain to the person that bought you the minis that, I dunno, you don't collect that type. I'm sure they would be willing to give you the receipt so you can get the best use out of the money they spent on you.

As long as the goods are in as sold condition, GW will almost certainly accept them in exchange for goods of equal value.

So went too GW Dublin and asked if it would be cool too exchange it for something else, as I dont collect the army.
The lad told me that we cant, beacuase their have been people taking stuff from other shops, and returning them for something that they want. I asked if its just this GW. And he said no its every GW everywhere.
Needless too say, I was disapointed, stuck with 31 euro worth of finecast I could never use. So I wondered down to my FLGS too have a browse around
Heres the conversation more or less:
Me - 'Hey man, any chance I can swap these for something else?
Bloke - 'Yeah, just put them on the shelves and take whatever you want
Me - 'uhhh OKAY! '
So I got a furioso dreadnought, Eisenhorn, paint and a resin base. Roughly abour 23 euro spent ontop of the trade - ins
I dont know why I even bother going anywhere near GW tbh

Hmm, ROI might have a different set of trading laws but as far as I am aware in the UK, if you have product that you wish to return and haven't got a receipt then the store are obliged to exchange it for item(s) of equivalent value. Sounds to me like the GW chap was pulling a fast one.

... I can honestly say that response surprises me greatly.
I've swapped stuff at GW stores for years and as long as the box is sealed never had a single quibble. Hell a wee while back I brought in an unopened Black Reach that still had the £50/old price on it and was given credit to the new value of the boxset.

I was aswell, I heard their was a few problems with people getting a 5 fingered discount, but I even had the box that they were posted too me in.
When I was working in Game, if someone brought in an unopened game, but no receipt, we were happy too exchange it, but we couldn't give cash without a receipt.

I guess it might be a local thing or something possibly, I really don't think the fact that it might be stolen is enough to affect a nationwide... international here one supposes in fact upon reflection... policy change like this.
I'd suggest giving GW a call.. but everything seems to have worked out alright in the end. One wonders if you perhaps were unlucky or caught the store guy on a bad day/similar.

Having a bad day is no excuse in fairness. It takes me about and hour and a half bus ride into town. If it wasn't for the FLGs then that would of been 3 hours travelling wasted just because some guy was in a mood. I'm really tempted to go down again and complain to his manager. I called the GW HQ and they said aslong as its still sealed, then anyone would be happy too exchange it, but that I would need a receipt if I wanted cash

Then I would call GW back and tell them that one of their store employees has apparently changed their policy.
Maybe it isn't worth starting trouble over, but like you said, it would have been three hours wasted if you didn't have another local store nearby that would accept the trade...and I'd bring that up too if I were you, tell them that being refused the trade ended up costing them money because you actually bought more models at the local store. In my opinion though that's not really acceptable, to be told over the phone that it's alright and then to be told the opposite when showing up in person after a long trip.
BTW:
international here one supposes in fact upon reflection
Reading that broke my head.

In the UK a store is not abliged to exchange goods that that are not faulty. Plenty of shops will though and I'm pretty sure it's managers discression at Games Workshop.

Sort of. This is true unless the store has a published returns policy:
Money Saving Expert guide wrote:...as then it's a contractual condition of sale so they must obey it.
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/consumer-rights-refunds-exchange
I haven't done any digging but I did find a bit on GW's site about Gift buying that states:
Games Workshop site wrote:We have a no-quibble, no-questions-asked exchange policy and will happily exchange returned gifts for other products, store credit or a refund.
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?aId=5700001a
Not sure if GW have a published policy elsewhere though.

GW has usually had a pretty generous exchange policy, although they cramped down hard when specialist games collapsed. People would swoop into FGLSs, buy warmaster blisters at 50-75% off, and then return them to a GW for new product.
The last time I dealt with a GW company store, they'd accept current packages, NIB, as retail exchange. Anything older or opened they wouldn't take.
