So I was sitting at my desk at work today, bored off my and I just happen to have my SM codex with me. So I thought I would start making semi-ridiculous army lists at the 1500 point level. Some for fun, some for fluff, and some for cheese, but not any serious tourney lists.
Well this is the first one that I did, I will be posting a few more in the coming days, work is kinda slow. LOL
Let's call it "Templates of Dooooooooom"
HQ Chapter Master 125
Elite Dreadnought
Plasma Cannon + Heavy flamer 125
Dreadnought
Plasma Cannon + Heavy flamer 125
Heavy Support Vindicator Tank 115
Thunder Fire Cannon
Tech marine w/ servo harness 100
(2) Servitors w/ plasma cannons 85
Thunder Fire Cannon
Tech marine w/ servo harness 100
(2) Servitors w/ plasma cannons 85
Troops Tac Squad (10 man)
ML + flamer 170
Razorback 40
Tac Squad (10 man)
Plasma cannon + flamer 175
Razorback 40
Tac Squad (10 man)
Plasma cannon + flamer 175
Razorback 40
1500 points
The templates stack up like this:
(1) ML (blast)
(5) flamers (temp)
(2) heavy flamers (temp)
(8) plasma cannons (blast)
(8) Thunder fire shots (blast)
(1) demolisher cannon (barrage)
(1) Orbital bombardment (barrage)
That's a heck of alot of plates to lay down in one turn of shooting!
So what do you dakkalites think? I DARE someone to actually use this list, I'd do it, just to see the look on my opponents face when he reads my army list. HAHAHA

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies. |

Lol I had the perfect list against that and it's a ridiculous one too. 30 lascannon shots or 30 multimelta and if I am lucky 30 heavy flamer
then you have 36 power weapons attacks in close combat. That's just the troops (monkeys) jakearo (can't spell) and DC assassin.
Then there is 6 chimera lol.

I would switch plasma cannons on troops to the better missile launchers as you need some more harder hitting anti tank. I think that's about it in order to keep the mass template theme.

You can definitely use a few Meltaguns in there to open up vehicles. I think your TFC provides enough "Cover Ignoring" shots, so I'd consider upgrading the regular Flamers to Meltaguns instead. Otherwise, the list isn't that bad.

Thanks for the comments, but I didn't really intend for this list to see the light of day. Actually I'm surprised at how positive the comments were for this "plasma" themed list. Well, I did it again, While I twiddled my thumbs at work today, I came up with a list that actually has way more templates than the previous list. LOL We'll call this one the "Ultimate Template of DOOOOOM" list. Here goes:
HQ Master of the Forge
conversion beam 120
(2) Servitors w/ plasma cannons 85
Elites Dreadnought
Plasma cannon + Heavy flamer 125
Dreadnought
Plasma cannon + heavy flamer 125
Heavy Support Thunderfire cannon
tech-marine w/ servo harness 100
(2) Servitors w/ plasma cannons 85
Thunderfire cannon
tech-marine w/ servo harness 100
(2) Servitors w/ plasma cannons 85
Thunderfire cannon
tech-marine w/ servo harness 100
(2) Servitors w/ plasma cannons 85
Troops Tac squad (10 man)
Plasma cannon + flamer
sarge w/ combi-flamer 185
Razorback w/ TL Heavy flamer and extra armor 80
Tac squad (10 man)
Plasma cannon + flamer
sarge w/ combi-flamer 185
Razorback w/ TL Heavy bolters 40
This list comes out at 1500 points and 35!!! yes I said 35 templates of death!!!
(1) conversion beam, blast
(12) Plasma cannons, blast
(12) Thunderfire shots, blast
(7) flamers, template
(3) Heavy flamers, template
Now at this point I'm actually considering building and playing this list. The Thunderfire cannons sit back and cover the enemy with 12 templates per turn, The Servitors do the same with their 8 templates of white hot plasma, The dreads advance forward using cover as well as throwing some templates down range, and the Tac squads break up into combat squads. The Plasma squads sit back and babysit the cannons or objectives, while the triple flame template razor's advance into the enemy's front line with more flamers than free hotdogs at a gay pride rally. LOL J/K (just some humor, lighten up)

Yea, the demolisher is gone, I love the model but in doing this list, It just didn't seem to fit. I'm thinking this list would absolutely devastate horde armys, but at the same time would get crushed against any list with vehicles, I agree with adding melta, but I just can't make myself give-up any plasma templates to get it, any suggestions?

ML, if there are vehicles, you can use the krack, and vs infantry, you can use the frag. Less Strength and AP on the frag than the plasma cannon, but it gives you a good AV up to 14 (there you can only glance, qq)
Also, you get rid of the get's hot rule that could end up hurting you on a roll of these pesky ones

I like where your going with this, the ML gives me anti-tank, is cheap, and still gives me the ability for templates. Ok, I will revisit this list tomorrow at work and add some ML's, Thanks. I also have another list to post soon, probably tomorrow. It's a 1500 point fluff list with 3 special characters from the SM codex, but it's actually a playable list.

The codex lists a servo-harness under the wargear section of the TFC, also the TFC entry in the codex states that it comes with a techmarine, and furthermore the techmarine entry in the codex allows him to take a unit of servitors equipped with the optional wargear for them.

I'm not really sold on this, The TFC entry in the back of the codex lists the unit comp. as a techmarine gunner, but I don't think that is a separate unit from a normal techmarine, it even shows a regular techmarine name and stats in the little box right above the unit comp. listing. If there was a way to get some sort of actual ruling on this, but unfortunately GW's rules are so vague that it leaves the ruling up to interpretation. Someone should get ahold of yakface, here on dakka, I think he is the resident rule expert.

Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies. |

lol, probably, but again, the Ork boyz's Nob have the same stats than the Nobs in the Nob squad However, the Ork boyz's Nob cannot get kombi weapons, cybork bodies, become a Painboy, take A waaghBanner or go on a bike like the Nobs in the Elite Section of the Codex can. If the entry of the Techmarine gunner was refering specially to the Techmarine entry (ie: for equipment, go check the techmarine entry) I would agree with you, but unfortunately, that is not the case (IIRC)

Apparently this isn't the first time that this argument has come up. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/355010.page

There is no argument. You can NOT buy servitors for the TFC, there exist no such option in the TFC entry. Its as simple as that.
By your logic I should be able to take Jump packs on my Tacticals since they have the same statline as ASM (which are pretty much only Tacticals with jump packs)

Just had an argument with my friend over msn on that and the wording here might be wrong which brings the confusion.
When the gunner loses his TFC, he becomes an IC and gains the Omnisiah special rule. Also, IIRC, the gunner already has a servo harness, but you cannot add another one. He is not a techmarine straight up because, as it is stated in the codex, he only gains 2 special rules of the techmarine and only after the TFC has been destroyed. So he is not a techmarine and so cannot take the wargear options of the techmarine except if the said wargear options are in the TFC entry.
