I've never met anyone who plays them. Their fellow marines don't trust them for their close connections to Mars. It's damned hard to find bionics pieces to build a model with unless you buy the one (1) kit offered by GW with all its infinite variety. And check out Ferrus Manus...

...is that a monkey wrench? Their Primarch thought it was a good idea to wade into Fulgrim with a monkey wrench. Might as well give him a broken bottle, or a leg of lamb. Seriously, did GW design the Iron Hands as a pure placeholder?

Yeah its sad because they are probly my favorite chapter. They use to have a mini codex that wa sprinted in white drawf and later on in Chapter Approoved. But that got done away with and the lil bit of fluff that you had to play them with got swept under the carpet.

Walk in the shadows and deliver the Emperor's justice into dark lairs of his enemys. Strike from the shadows and let them fear the very darkness they call home. Embrace the shadows for when all others would be driven mad we shall remain whole.

bionics also = FNP. I use IH bionics on my IW. I'd play IH but I don't wanna spend all that money again on the bionics, lol. Occationally i flieldmy bionics dudes as plague marines calling it bionic upgrades that give FNP. No one has a problem with that that i've ever played.

You can play a master of the forge and lots of dreads and that's kinda fluffy. Not as good as they used to get, but still works.

There is a Sons of Medusa SC in IA10. Along with being a master of the forge he gives devistators FNP as long as they're modeled with bionics. Sons of Medusa come from IH if you didn't know.

Lol. I thought the same when i saw that picture, who the feth fights with a giant spanner?!

I read the book though, and apparently its a warhammer? Ferrus and Fulgrim make weapons for each other..

The book was sad though, poor old Fulgrim isnt actually Fulgrim at all. Hes just a demon wearing the guys skin, while Fulgrim cries in the background for all eternity cos he killed his best mate.

Grimdark!

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

When I talk about Iron Hands, often people seem to confuse them with Iron Lords. I think that's their big problem.

I run iron hands.

Also the spanner is in his hands because whatever other weapon it was he had (I forget) wasn't available atm. It's ok because his arms were litteraly coated in material that the power weapon couldn't hurt.

They also aren't a filler army/chapter, they are one of the original 13 chapters. The thing that hurts them is they don't have an official codex, so everyone that would play marines is more inclinded to run spaz wolves, bluud angels or other basic stuff.

The iron hands box set is actually a really good deal. You get the normal tactical squad stuff, plus 10 shoulder pads, two legs, two chest pieces, 5 heads (one is helmetless) a thunderhammer and two bolter arm sets. All metal.

I PLAY IRON HANDS!!! but i've only just started... I have 1000pts, and i have converted two dreadnoughts to be techmarine dreadnoughts that i have rules for when i get to apocalypse, but for now they are an ironclad and a normal dread! And i've given them all the forgeworld umbra ferrox pattern bolters, plus custom bionics to add to the GW ones! And Ferrus Mannus is fairly cool, his hands are coated in molten metal... but that's about it! :/ And their chapter master Kardan Stronos invented the razorback by effectively strapping a lascannon and two plasma guns on a rhino! Ever wondered why they call it the 'stronos' pattern? yeah, they are terribly unloved but they can look pretty epic if enough time, effort and money is put into them!

A marine ought to be ready for battle at all times, and for a Primarch to not have his weapon at hand is inexcusable.

I'm aware they're one of the original legions, but you'd never know it from the codex. Check out page 27 -- they couldn't even bother to craft a decent backstory, but gave the entire chapter, which surely has a rich and storied history, a two-sentence bio and stuck them with the successor chapters. Every other founding legion with the exception of the Ultramarines (who have the entire book) and those that have their own codices get a bigger "primp."

With their penchant for bionics and their ins with the Adeptus Mechanicus, they certainly should have their own codex and be able to field radically different gear from their brothers. But they don't. I think they're incredibly cool, myself, and certainly shouldn't be a filler chapter, but I think it's pretty clear GW treats them like one.

No, i dont think the Iron Hands should have their own codex because they aren't that different from their more "normal" brethren. Their company organisation is somewhat unusual but they use all the standard units that the Ultramarines use as well.
Bionics and the like could have been easily represented by a special character which gives the fnp rule but even that is a stretch, since only a very few Iron Hands actualy have that much metal within their bodies.

The reason they don't use non-standard units, and the reason they play exactly the same way as the Ultramarines or Imperial Fists, is because they don't have a codex.

Who said there was enough space to put it in the smurf codex?

You want iron hands backstory?
