alright so in my codex it says i roll a d3 to see how many times that unit with a deff gun shoots, now lets say i have 4 deff guns, do i roll a d3 4 times to see how much each unit shoots? or do i just roll the d3 once for a total between ALL of my deff guns?
example, i roll a d3 and get a 6 which equals 30 shots, do i divide those 30 shots between them? or does that one unit that i rolled for get 30 shots on his own and i continue rolling for the rest as well?

Each guy gets d3 shots. so if you have 10 guys you get 10 shots for rolling a 1 or a 2 ,20 for a 3 or 4 , and 30 for a 5 or a 6. so roll 1 3 sided- dice(1,2 is 1 3,4 is 2 5,6 is 3)f or entire squad then multiply the result by the number of deff guns that can shoot to get the total amount of shots that unit gets.

I don't really understand what you're asking.
If you have 4 deffguns then that means you have 4 lootas in the unit.
Or are you asking about 4 units of lootas with 10 models each (which would be an illegal list, you can only have 3 elite choices).

He is asking ( I belive) if he may roll for the loota unit or if he must roll for each model.
You roll for the unit.

Maybe he's playing Orkpocalypse?
Anyway, roll once for each unit of lootas. It's right there in the Ork Codex.

Ok so i do not roll for each model individually? I just roll once for the whole unit?
because the way i was playing i would roll once per model. so, if i had 4 deffguns in a unit i rolled 4 times, once for each gun and then each gun shot that many times.

You roll once for the unit, and multiply by the number of lootas in the unit.
It even says so in the codex.

Nope, you roll for the unit. So roll a d3 and times it by the number of models in the unit and that gives you your total number of shots. Edit: Bah! Curse these slow, fat fingers!

Ok that makes sense then, so if i roll a 6 that's 30 shots so if i have 4 in that unit i just multiply 30x4 correct?

Where are you getting the idea that a d3 roll of 6 equals 30?
A d3 is a d6 results halved and rounded up. Thus:
1 -2 = 1
3 - 4 = 2
5 -6 = 3
If you roll a 6 and have 4 models in the loota unit then that is 3 x 4 = 12 shots in total.

I know how the d3 works... but instead of it equaling 1, 2 and 3 it equals 10, 20, and 30

I think I see where you are making your mistake.
You're looking at page 43 of the ork codex, and the last sentence under lootas says if they roll a 6 that equals 3 on a D3 so they get 30 shots.
You're just missing the part of the paragraph that says "For instance, a unit of ten Lootas..." which is where the 30 shots come from. A unit of 10 models times 3 shots each equals 30 shots from the unit.
If you took a minimum sized Loota unit of 5 models, and rolled a 5 for rate of fire, that would be '3' on a D3 so the unit would get 3 (rate of fire) times 5 (models) for 15 shots for the unit.
As other posters have said, you roll a D3, multiply the result by the number of Loota equipped models in the unit and that is the number of shots they fire.

That's d3 x 10
Lets keep this simple. To use the example of a squad of four models:
a) Roll a dice - lets say that the result is a 6
b) The 6 that you just rolled is equivalent to a d3 roll of 3
c) Times that 3 by the number of models in the unit (in this example, 4) to get your total number of shots.
Equals 12 shots.
