I really love DOOM the boardgame, but I'm having a very difficult time finding similar games to add some variety. I used to play the boardgame versions of Mutant Chronicles a bunch of years ago, but they are now lost as well as discontinued.
Any suggestions on games or where to look?

FFG is doing a Gears of War themed board game that should be along those same lines.

And how could I forget Grindhouse Games' pretty awesome "Incursion" which can be played with either cardboard cutouts(included in the game) or miniatures.

If you're not constraining yourself to sci-fi, Descent.

Yeah, I've pre-ordered that, already.

No, I am in no way limiting myself. If there is a good game in a setting that is not Sci-fi, I want it.
I'll check 'em out, thanks!

I couldn't stand Doom. It felt more like a survival horror and less like, well, Doom. Mutant Chronicles is an amazing game. A few years ago I managed to find myself a copy in good shape. They had one in PERFECT condition at the store auction I went to over the weekend. Literally, still not even punched out of the card stock. I put a silent bid in on it. If I get it, I might be willing to let my current copy go.

Doom perfectly captured the essence of the 3rd game in the franchise, but I agree with daedalus that it had little in common with the original two games of the same name. If you don't have the expansion set for it, get it! Still a fun game, in groups of 3 players especially.
I've heard good things about a lot of different FFG games. I would start with them and just try out different board games from them until you find one you like.

Yeah, even though it's not really "Doomy", I still like the playing style of it. I have Zombies!!! too, forgot to mention that before. That's also a great game.
Might just have to peek at all FFG games a bit.
And Descent looked awesome, by the way!

Descent is pretty fun too. It's only problem is that the guys I always play it with are my D&D group, so we always end up playing D&D instead.
Also, I didn't end up winning the auction. :( However, to the OP, I just found this. You might download it and have a go:

(if the link wasn't obvious enough, it's a vassal module for Mutant Chronicles)

I have heard that Descent has an almost absurd level of complexity? (although of course that may be your thing)

Yes, actually it is. As long as the game is fun, though.

You might want to look out for the forthcoming Gears of war from fantasy flight, it seems to have some nice ideas and is touted as having good solitaire replayability.
Try Earth Reborn, a fun game that has some of the best components out there.
As for me it is the wonderful Incursion - playable out of the box but you will find yourself having to get the minis to replace the cardboard standees. Best of all the expansion rules "SNAFU" add a load of new scenarios and fun.

Keep in mind that Gears of War's system isn't square tiles, they have zones similar to Mansion of Madness with LoS dots and cover positions. It has similar gameplay though, but it's completely co-op, there is no player that's running the monsters, just cards.
Incursion is way more detailed than Doom, but is perhaps more balanced and interesting.
Earth Rebord is definitely a good step up from Doom.
Descent is the exact same core rules from Doom, but in fantasy format with many improvements to the formula.
