There are many, like myself, in the hobby who prefer the game side to the modeling and painting side.
My question though is would you support a secondary line of WHFB (and 40k) figurines that were pre-painted and either one-sculpt, or minimal assembly required. A line that would basically be quick from the box to the table.

By 'support' do you mean would I think GW should do it or would I buy it? Because I would never buy it. I got into the hobby through painting. I might as well quit if I ever bought one. As for thinking GW should do it, I don't think there are enough customers that want it to cause a positive marketing change that would allow for pre-painted and non-painted without a MASSIVE(er) price hike on the models. Sadly, I don't think it would work. Reaper does it, but those models are rubber (I bought a few for conversion work and primed right over them (after chopping them up )

I wouldnt be up for it.
Reasons
If you get bored and dont have a game or anything better to do you start to hop and cut and change the models.
Also painting kills time and is relaxing.
Gw would bump the price on everything if they did this.
Try The army painter spray primer gives em a colored base coat which is much better than naked plastic metal or resin that may help for now.

I have no problems with it. If I did, I wouldn't have a huge AT-43 collection. They can always still be converted and repainted(like every other pre-paints I've dealt with) and considering you postulate it as a second set, why would anyone have a problem with it? One line for hobbyists(like me and everyone in this thread so far) and another for people who purely want to play.

Seeing what gw has done so far they will hike the price if they pre paint the models and such but meh painting your own army is kind of painful I agree there but I would rather do that than have people complain about the paint job.
Would be interesting to see tho.

Depends on how much.
Because the color scheme might be hit or miss since its pre painted.
And there are tons of painting service out there anyways.

I would like to point out that this would be a secondary line of models designed for those who don't prefer the modeling half of the hobby, but instead want to play the Game.
Complaining that the idea isn't good for modelling is like complaining about bicycling instead of running because it doesn't support running.
I do understand that modeling is a large part of the hobby. But that does not mean that there isn't support for those who would prefer not to do that half.
The model line itself, in order to keep price point down, doesn't have to be the same level of quality detail.

Yeah, wouldn't want to pay $5 on top of what GW is already bleeding me for to get each model painted. I've got some work for you if you'll do it for $1/fig.
I'm with the OP, I'm mainly a gamer and am usually just irritated with all the painting and trying to glue the fiddly parts on stuff. I wouldn't mind painting my own HQ or special characters but painting endless troopers for my horde blocks in fantasy is just boring, tedious and generally unfun.

Also, keep in mind, those of us interested in the gaming aspect are more interested in having the troops more than the troops themselves looking like insanely detailed models.
The idea is to be able to play a game at (roughly) the same price, without having to go through the assembly and painting process.
Take a look at the following picture:
These models, from the modeling side, are complete crap. Details are missing, ability to customize is low, etc. However, pre-painted, and ready to play out of the box, these things would definitely be ready to go to my table.
This is a secondary line meant to support people who ONLY want to play. Not as a line designed to support the modelers as well.

For 40k I run Orks and Tyranids (among others) and have a growing IG force. Fantasy is Skaven.
If I could get my rank and file models for horde armies prepainted, I would love it. Frankly, I hate painting.

Well those are 1:75 Revell miniatures or kind of. No wonder there are not that many details - hence it´s 1:75!
I´ve collected revell minatures as a kid and had nearly every box from aztecs to german paratroopers, painted them as well and used to "play" with them. But they are really tiny compared to 32mm scale and 1:35 which comes close to 32mm is where you can get really awesome minatures. Everything smaller is mostly for diorama stuff, where the miniatures are mostly there to complete the scene and the highlight is a vehicle/tank whatever.
Sorry for the OT.
On topic:
There are plenty of "painting services" around the web, so if you just want to play order them.

The picture was just showing that at least I, and maybe others who favor "Game" more than "Modeling/Painting", wouldn't actually be hung up on having to have the high quality models.

Yeah, if I could get gnobblar's prepainted, that'd be awesome because I spend more time taking them off the movement tray than they actually spend on the field. There's no point in spending hours painting a block of 2pt models if they're not going to be looked at.
Me: Lessee, here's my 50-man block of gnobblars that cost 100pts to field.
Opponent: Cool, here's my cannon and mortar.
Me: Here's me taking them off of the field....

That's not a bad idea, actually. I could do a decent job on the front rank and just spray-paint the rest of them green.

Or you could do like ive been doing.. and paint a single color... when i get the bug to just put paint on SOMETHING, ill pull up a line of gnoblars, and the catachan green paint, and go to town.. of course this hasnt happened very much, since i only have 2 gnoblars with painted skin, ive been busy with other armies, etc.
I believe that there was a topic very similar to this in the General Discussion, where it was pointed out that DnD tried prepainted minis, that they have subsequently removed from the market because it was a complete failure. The market has been proven that premade minis just dont generate the numbers of fans to warrant their continued manufacture.
So, if you are just that opposed to painting your own army, i would also suggest that you hire someone to do it for you.

I know some guys who model and do nothing but that. I mean wireframes from scratch. Play only a handful of times.
At the GW stores there's always a cadre of people just sitting around painting. While playing there's a bunch of guys with models that look like someone sprayed a few cans of paint in their mouth and sneezed on them.
I'm at another end. I don't model and I don't paint. I read the books and theorycraft and sometimes watch games and help out there. I've literally had an unpainted miniature sitting on my monitor in front of me, staring at me with his dull lead eyes, for like 4 years. Poor guy. But you couldn't pay me to paint him (unless it was a lot).
Whatever gets you off, do it. If GW is missing a sales opportunity, I'd say that's their fault. I know me and my friends growing up did all kinds of non-official things due to lack of $ and simply disinterest.

D&D Prepainted minis failed for a whole host of reasons, not the least of which was that you got a random assortment of figures in each box. It made it extremely difficult (and expensive) to get the figures you needed for your campaign without going to some other reseller. I'm not sure I'd compare the two situations at all.
