Over the last few months I have been juggling Uni with this commission, and now it is done!

Here is the WIP thread: http://warhammer.org.uk/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=81475

I would be grateful for any comments or criticism.

And a turntable video too!

These are really, and I mean really, nice.

Not a big Elysian fan normally but you've changed my mind.

Really loving the vehicles!
What colors did you use on the wheels?(not the tires)
Making an Elysian army myself so I am really interested in how you did those nice wheels.

Thanks

The wheels were initially painted boltgun metal and washed black. Then they underwent a weathering process. I used forgeworld's weathering powers, bone dust and medium earth mixed with matt varnish. This was applied in several watered down layers and then I used sepia and devlan mud washes to create the depth.

Sorry if this is a little unspecific, but they were a bit trial and error, I got there in the end though

Thanks,

Tom

I started an elysian army last summer and loved it, but the prices just got to me and I ended up selling what I had, but then I looked back and realized if I had spent the same amount on elysians as I had on warhammer anyway, I would have a huge elysian army by now and this thought constantly haunts me....anyway, great work I have always loved these models and you have done them justice

yeah thats probably true for a lot of Wargamers....but when it comes down to it most people have bought here and there. Like take the Battleforces, those are like 90 dollars to start a beginner with a playable army. Now if you took that 90 dollars and went to FW it wouldn't even get you two squads of Elysian/DKoK.

One of the best armies I've ever seen. They look superb, very jealous of whoever is getting these. Just a question, how much will this have cost them?

Well counting the models from the group shot(first pic) I did the math for all that and that would run you about $615.10 or 384.20 GBP. and thats not including shipping which would easily add on a large amount of money, and not including how much the OP charged for the commision(which im sure wasnt cheap) the guy could have easily dropped close to, or more than $1000.

Onion article:
Pet Owner Not Bothering To Neuter Loser Cat
July 13, 2009 | Issue 45•29

CORAL SPRINGS, FL—Mike Oakland, 29, told reporters Monday he is not about to pay $100 to have his 5-month-old cat, Mowgli, neutered, because he has no expectations that the dull, paunchy tabby will ever get laid.

Mowgli
"For all he's going to use those balls, he might as well keep them," said Oakland, adding that he'd bet anyone any amount of money that the striped kitten will die a virgin. "He never leaves the house, and I've seen how the neighbor cat looks at him. Completely platonic." When reached for comment, a spokesperson from the Florida Humane Society reiterated that it's important to have all pets spayed or neutered, even ugly lame-o's who probably couldn't score in a roomful of calicos in heat.

As a Elysian player I can say that this army would cost $756 if planned carefully. But with purchase over time as most people do, the cost would increase of course, due to the fact that one buys what he needs at the time.

To create this Elysian force one would need (example):

1 Company command
2 Platoon command
5 Elysian drop troop squads
2 Veteran elysian squads
3 Venators
6 weapon upgrade packs

Now I don't know how he the army is built, but I would guess the army is between 1000-1500 pts.

Compared to a Dark Eldar army with tons of vehicles, I would guess at these points the Elysians are about $200 more expensive.

Onto topic.

did you pin the search light on the Venator, or just glue them to the turret?
Have some problems with attaching my searchlights.
One solution would be to drill a small whole to put the connecting rod into place.

I made sure the connecting areas where really flush and glued them, sanding the area first seems to give a better adhesion. I tried pinning one of them but rod in the searchlight was too thin and fragile, it was stronger to simply stick it in place.

Thanks a lot for the kind words!

That is one amazing looking army. Almost worth the obscene FW prices when you can turn 'em out like that. Very nice work. Your buyer is getting their money's worth on the paint job. Cheers.

They are from Imperial armour 8.
Though they can be used in the normal IG army list as fast attack choice (squadron).

The name of the vehicle is Tauros Venator and is a fast vehicle.
It has some special rules, making it able to travel through terrain more safely.
Stats is as standard IG soldier when shooting, and armour is is like a rhinos front armour.
Option of multi-laser and lascannon (both twin-linked).
Points is a few points cheaper than an armoured sentinel (this is a Venator with multi-laser. Lascannon costs more).

Why use Venators when we have Vendettas?
Venator has the ability to buy camo netting, improving its cover save. Also it can scout move into a position with cover before the game begins.
You get roughly 2 Venators for the price of one Vendetta. So it's a loss of one twin linked lascannon.
But gain an extra model.
Also, they can have homing beacon to aid deep striking units.
They are not as exposed as the Vendetta.
Con is that there is no transporting capability as the Vendetta has. As said, one less lascannon. 1 pt less armour.
