I was thinking the one thing I have not seen is power chain sword at all! I know that the IoM may not be able to make them but how come the eldar have not thought of it. It could be because that it is impossible or just too difficult to make?

Your thoughts?

Probably pointless more than anything, it would be like a chainlightsaber

True, but look at the carnage it could cause but there should still be a mention or relic of one.

Whilst not strictly a sword, Khârn's chainaxe Gorechild is a power weapon. I also assume that Angron's Gorefather would be similar.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

I thought it was just treated as a power weapon since it's made out of dragons teeth, oh and that its head is like 2m wide

An eviserator is a large chainsword with a power field. Closest thing besides special weapons in 40k.

Eviscerators don't have a power field. They're just big-ass chainsaws.

The thing i'm not sure of with these kinds of weapons is the fluff.

Correct me if i'm wrong.

But with power swords and fists, it's the power field doing the cutting from my understanding, so why would they ever need to add a power field on a chainsword? The field will cleave through everything and the sword will never touch them.

Hm... Or why not have a gun that shoots bullets which each have a miniature power field?

Those are called PlasmaGuns..

An energy bullet surrounded by a decaying magnetic field

Power bullets would be too much work for too little reward, I think.

I suppose a plasma gun would be an adequate substitute...

Still, maybe as special ammunition, to get a whole unit blowing through power armor instead of just the one or two guys with plasma weapons...

I imagine power bullets would eat through the gun that fires them, so naturally they'd be one shot only

And yeah getting them to work would be crazy work, obviously there'd be the field projector, then the timer so it doesn't melt the gun so it'd end up being more like a power missile!!!!!

The space wolves have them, they're called frost blades. Power chainsword/axes. +1str and powerfield. Just wish there was a way to either get more of them, or just reduce the price... For the same price iirc I can get a powerfist.

Vengeance rounds from Sternguard Veterans already do this. They're flux rounds or some other technobabble though.

There was a powered chainsword on Chaos Gate all those years ago (think it was called the Vindicator Chainsword) and you found it on a hero's corpse.

You could build it, but it's redundant. With a power weapon, the power field provides all the matter-destroying edge the weapon needs. The blade is... well, really a redundant part, other than to provide the field with something to be channeled through/around.

Adding a powerfield to a chain weapon pretty much means the chainsaw-edge is never going to actually hit anything, the powerfield is doing all the cutting.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Still, you'll never have to sharpen it

How about a bullet with a powerfist that comes out of the bullet and shoots a missile that explodes into a power chain thunder lightening hammer that hits the enemy?

Add in some chainsword chucks, and a dire rat flail and you have yourself a winning idea

That's arguably more due to the power fist rather than the chainsaw duct taped onto it. All the chainsaw does is worsen the damage; the weapon would still be a power weapon without the chainsaw bit.

*Matt wards pencil scribbling notes*

How a bout a power field that encases the entire suit of power armour? So they could literally walk through people

On a more serious note,
From my understanding with chainfists is that the chainsword part isn't within the power field, so they hack at the tank, then smash the weakened steel open with the power fist.

Otherwise fluff wise power swords could cut open a tank

If you can put a power field around your fist why not put one around your whole body?
Geez do I need to think of everything?
EDIT- Dammit just read the post above.

power chainsword is redundant. If the powerfield is rending apart armor it doesn't matter if the weapon within it is a normal sword, whirring chainsword, or wooden rolling pin
(ninja'd I see)

This may interest you.
In the original Dawn of War 2, one of the items you could get in the campaign was a chainsword that was sparking lighting as if it was a power weapon. In its details, it said it had been used in some campaign against Necrons, and had destroyed many of them.
So it could be a rare chainsword that had been "powered" for adding effectiveness against Necrons. I like the idea
