The old Truthsayer, Dark Emisary and Fenbeast have rules in the Storm of Magic book, and are being rereleased in Finecast. Not new models, just Finecast rereleases.

I've still got my Dark Emissary, he used to be great fun in my Cult of Slaanesh 3k lists. Will have to bust him out with my Skaven now in some SoM games.

It's good that those two are coming back.

Any idea if the rules on them are changing or will they just be updated?

I'd like to know this, too. I was a fan of the Emissary's spell list.

Well if anything I think they would up the level casting of the spells. Only a 12+ for a spell that makes every model in the unit take a toughness test or die seems a bit too low in relation to the new spells. Oh and he is a level 4 caster with an item which gives him +1 to cast.

I assumed that, but I'm more afraid they will just give them a common Lore instead of individual lores and make them something different than they were. I know that sounds like nostalgiaism, but they were interesting characters.

Would also be awesome to see a return of Belakor in the book, though I doubt that will happen.

Are you familiar with the WoC Slaanesh spells? I think their #6 spell does almost exactly this. Though maybe it's only one wound, rather than death.

“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”

My worry too. Theyve put a lot into the new Lores (it seems to me) to just resurrect an old one with nothing new.
Then again GW are a bit lazy, and the old Lore wrecked face whenever i saw it.

Yes please!
Or at least official rules for him. (unless there are some in DoC Army Book, in which case please disregard)

Yeah its a wound, not outright death, still rather nasty though.

Truthsayers and Dark Emissaries are both level 2/3 Wizards (upgrade available for a level) who use one of two Lores from the rulebook. Each have a defensive item and a casting item.

The Truthsayer gets +1 to dispel and +2 to channeling attempts for Dispel dice, the Dark Emissary gets +1 to cast and +2 to channeling attempts for Power dice.

I'm not 100% sure on the exact defensive items, but I think it was that the Dark Emissary has Regeneration and the Truthsayer has a 5+ Ward and Magic Resistance (2).

Oh... And if he chooses Lore of Beasts, the Truthsayer doesn't treat Wyssan's Wildform as his signature spell; instead, he can always choose to take Transformation of Kadon.

Nope, nothing in the DoC book. They basically disregarded all previous Daemon SC from Fantasy(Belakor, Amon Ch'akai, Azazel) to do all the new ones that work in both systems.

That's... disappointing. At least they keep their +1 dispel and +1 cast(respectively) that they used to have. Can the Dark Emissary become lvl 4 like he used to be?

Not as I recall, but I did only read over them briefly when in the shop yesterday. I could easily be missing something from their rules.

Oh... And because they're Storm of Magic-specific, they come out of the "Monsters and Magic" section, and take up one of the two Scrolls of Binding slots. And you can't do the old thing of having one person with a Truthsayer, one with a Dark Emissary, and one Fenbeast roaming the table switching sides every turn or two

Well I do play WoC Slassnesh, so yes I know that they have a similar spell. But, all the spells from that book are out of touch with the new spell lores as well and I think that the Dark Emissary one was better because it causes instant death.

Just checked his spell list. This spell isn't as good as that, it only affected 1 model.

However, Fog of Death would be a bit broken these days at 10+. D6 S3 hits to EVERY unit on the table that your units don't take on a 4+.
