I used wraiths in a battle and they were great and useful, but i got them killed pretty fast. Whats the best way to keep them alive?

Take two squads and keep them within 6" of each other, you should check out Dash's Tactica on them.
Also try attaching a destroyer lord with res orb, he'll help them to last longer too, and increase the damage they do too

As above, but keep them behind BLoS object. Then move through it and assault. Having multiple units close to each other is important: it provides WBB rolls if the unit is wiped out, which let's face it, can happen quite easily. If you DS a monolith in nearby, you should be able to re-re-roll the WBB if you teleport the wraiths through the portal...
Yes, definitely read DashofPepper's guide to playing with a wraith army.

I'm unfamiliar with the intricacies of the Necron rules, but if an entire unit of wraiths is destroyed, they get to WBB and join a new unit, but they lose the ability to teleport through the monolith, correct?

Take 6, preferably 9. 3 Wraiths aren't really a threat against all that much. Do your best to abuse the wraithflight rules by hiding in buildings and LOS blocking terrain, or on the other side of impassable terrain. Or your own Monoliths. Remember, you and you alone ignore absolutely everything related to terrain, including turbo boosting wherever you please.
You may choose to send ANY Necron unit through the Monolith, and ANY model attempting to get back up re-rolls. So you have to cycle the unit they are trying to join through the portal.
If you take more than one unit, remember to use them as a single hammer. 2-3 Wraiths will struggle against a large ordinary marine squad. They are only really good in mass.

from the time I used wraiths I did the tactic commonly called wraith wing.
using 9 (three full squads) of wraiths plus a destroyer lord kitted out with res. orb, warscythe, phase shifter and finally two monoliths.
You hide your wraiths and lord attached to one of the units behind your monolith screen. using the lith's to slowly inch forward towards the enemy units using particle whips until you get within your assault range.
you then move your twelve inches straight through your liths ready to assault an enemy unit with all three squads plus your lord for a very high initiative. If the entire unit hasn't run or been eliminated by the start of your next turn you portal all your wraiths through one or both portals getting another chance and WBB.
it's likely after one full turn you'll lose 3-4 wraiths but by the start of your turn you should on average get 1 or 2 back plus 1 or 2 more after a walk through the monoliths. This way you're ready to assault a new unit with your wraiths or the same unit as before after your liths shoot. it also gives all your wraiths and lord their assaulting attacks as well.

I'm trying Dash's wraith wing and getting by but handed to me more times than not. In my last games I played against Blood Angels. He fielded several razorbacks loaded with marines and turret mounted assault cannons, a stormraven carrying a death company and a dreadnought and a razorback with a twinlinked lascannon. Needless to say he parked right outside of particle whip range + 6" and took shots at my liths with his lascannon. He ran his dreadnought at my liths which managed to miss with all three particle whips. The lascannon wrecked one lith turn one and the dread put the beat down on one of the other liths. Death company had a power fist that wrecked the lith but did succumb to the wraiths and the lord. If I assaulted anything on the other side of the liths with my wraiths and I managed to kill the 5 man unit or dread I'd be staring down three assault cannons. And with my liths dropping like flies things just weren't looking good for the home team. I will say I'm a newbie and Necron's are my first army but geeezz what can you do against anything that can do assault pretty well and shoot pretty well? Granted having all three liths dead by turn three didn't help. The deceiver did his best and ended up being the one who did in the death company only to be shot up by the stormraven. Like I said I think it takes lots and lots of practice and playing perfect 40k.

I just did a game against BA as well. My 6 wraiths were turbo boosting all around and killing like crazy with the lord while staying within range of my 2 monoliths. I won the game (first game i'd ever won against the preticular player) with almost a wipeout and in the end i still had three of the wraiths. Awsome, thanks guys

How do you turbo boost and then kill something? Why turbo boost wraiths unless you need to get across to some objective? They already have 3++.

Looks awsome, thats some great tactica. I'll be using that.
That part about spreading out units to claim more objectives might be wrong though. I seem to remember reading somewhere that you can only claim one objective per unit.
