Got a small tournament comin up in a couple of weeks that is 750 points was trying to get a relatively balanced force so my first draft went:

HQ:
Avatar - 155

Elites:
7 Howling Banshees - 144
Exarch, Executioner, War Shout & Acrobat

5 Striking Scorpions - 112
Exarch, Scorpians Claw & Stalker

Troops:
8 Dire Avengers - 138
Exarch, Power Weapon & Shimmershield, Bladestorm

Fast Attack:
Vyper - 60
Scatter Laser

Heavy Support:
Wraithlord - 140
Wraithsword & Bright Lance

Total - 749 points

Alternatively (as i only have 1 troop choice) I could drop the Scorpions for an 11 man squad of Guardians with a Starcannon for 113 and make it a full 750

Thoughts?

Instead of the vyper or the wraithlord i would bring 3 warwalkers with scatter lasers as seperate units. Its cheaper and much more effective, it'll take down any transports that you could come across and mow down units of infantry. Drop the scorpions for more Dire avengers. And for your dire avengers i would take out the power weapon and shimmershield and just give the exarch twin pults and bladestorm. A Doom/Guide farseer might accompany this list better than the avatar. The Dire Avengers have LD 9 so fearless isn't needed that much, you'll do alot more damage with guide and doom.

You need two troops choices for a legal army according to the FOC. So yes, more dire avengers!

You need a 2nd troops choice, and I agree about the War Walker suggestion. I'd do something entirely different w/ 750 Eldar, but if you're gonna play close to that list, I'd make those changes.

Don't listen to these guys telling you to get rid of the wraithlord when I went to a 750pt torney I took 2 of them with sword and starcannon! The only thing I would say is find some points to take a wave serpent as you will need something to transport your banshees or avengers so that they don't get shot to bits!

Other than that great list mate!

Oh and another thing is guys he probably doesn't need a 2nd troop choice because chances are being such a small game the tourney has its own FOC like mine did.

I'd probly run something like this:

Farseer - 135( i think)
-Runes of warding
-Doom
-Guide
-Spirit Stones

2x10 DA - 304
- Exarch
- 2 shuriken catapults
- Bladestorm

2x Falcon 290
Pulse Laser
EML
Shuriken Cannon

Basically a shooting army, faseer can sit in one of the falcons or go with the DA, anything gets close blow it away, focus fire on one unit (the biggest threat) at a time. It's got 6 S8 shots (48" 4 AP2, 2 AP3), less S6 than most eldar lists 6 24" S6, and a bucket load of small arms fire.

yea it does give food for thought and i should have mentioned earlier they only need 1 troop as a minimum requirement.
also found out today that the boards we using are quite small as there a few players in a small store - 2'x2' i believe so was hopin i may be able to close the ground quite quickly anyways. i usually take starcannon with my wraithlord but as i dont have any other anti-tank weapons i felt i needed summit as an insurance policy lol
and wasnt gonna use farseer as the bs4 avengers and wl etc should hopefully negate the need for re-rolls as i usually reserve guide for guardians with heavy weapons that i need at the right time but i got time to readjust stuff (even durin the tourney i think) - tho do love doom and would be in range from the off - hmmmmmmmmmm

think i may play some practice games and see what works and what doesnt thanks for the input peeps much appreciated

...a 2x2, that's tiny. Go all out assault maybe? Also now your original list makes more sense, the avatar would be pretty scary this close. This might work? but then again there's the ye olde arguement over scorpion vs banshees, personally i'm on the banshees side you can swap em for 10 scorpions tho, then you don't need fortune or doom so consider the avatar if you take the scorps who have stalker of course

Pretty much exactly what he said. I had the war walkers for a 1k tourney last year and I only lost 2/17 matces or so.

If I was playing on a 2 x 2 board I'd consider being really evil and have a guideseer and 2 war walker sqns, to keep the points low I'd put shuriken cannons on them, the lost range and shot wouldn't be too much of an issue. The walkers would come in at 240pts and put out 36 shots

Stalker cost 20 pts

Guide is 20 and doom 25

Well, I'd take a shooty approach:
Doomseer with runes of warding,
2x 10 Dire Avengers in Serpents with stones and scatter lasers,
3x Warwalkers w/ scatter lasers.
Needs some trimming by dropping some Avengers.

That list has no way to penetrate armor.

which is why my wraithlord has the bright lance as i usually go with a starcannon - tho a missile launcher may also do the trick and also blow some inf up into the bargain asi doubt i'll come across much in the way of land raiders or the like at such a low point limit to make use of the lance rule, would free up bout 15 points too.....

but yea i think the avatar would be brutal on such a small board - its only a small store and there are 16 players going so they gotta get as many boards as poss going at once lol

alternatively if i did swap the bright lance for the launcher then i may be able to swap the vyper with a war walker with a pair of missile launchers in as well, cause a bit more havoc and it'll be more versatile

Two flaws:
Embolden is useless when the Guardians run in the Avatar's fearless bubble.
Spirit stones for squadrons is useless, too.

Good point for the first one (forgot that the gaming table was going to be so small). Then Conceal or Destructor! For the second point, I disagree. Would much rather have my walkers shaken than stunned any day...

but a stunned result on a squadron automaticly becomes a shaken

Not if you're running them independently, though. Didn't mean WW x 2 to be a squad, just to use 2 of 'em. Especially since they're squishy...
