Thread title seems stupid but i have a logical explanation. 40k has been around for a number of years and there have been countless fluff changes etc. so do they just count new fluff as the 40k timeline and keep it there or have the years advanced?

Will we ever see warhammer 41k or the like?

Theres something about raiding planets and then bathing in the slaves misery and torment that really gets me. I love DE, and can now play in 2000point matches with the addition of my latest stuff! Kabal of the Purple Blaze.

I also have 2 squads of IG Shock troopers and a Platoon Comand squad as a start to my IG army For Cadia Check out my blog - http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/380874.page#3047386

The timeline actually goes up to beyond the 41st millennium in the most recent rule book. So we're already up to 41k, technically (42nd millennium).

Oh, one thing I should have mentioned. The timeline has advanced a little with every edition, so we'll probably see more advances in editions to come.

Do you mean the main rulebook? I'm fairly sure it cuts off just as the 41st millennium is drawing to a close. Where does it reference events in the 42nd?

I don't have it to hand, but I'm pretty sure it's in the timeline, within the colour section.

The timeline jumps around everywhere, it's hard to really say "this is the point in time that we are at".

IIRC all the Cain Archive is published in the 42nd millenium as are a number of other referenced works, and sometimes talks about "current" 40k events in the past tense - the later Tryanic Wars etc

The furthest the timeline gets is 995999.M41. That's December 30, 41999 at about 4am. Still 5/1000th of a year away from the 42nd millennium.

In the rulebook, the date is 40,999AD, but Black Library have brought us up into the 42nd millennium.

It's over 9000!!

I'm glad they're advancing the storyline, hopefully when 6th comes out it'll be the 42nd millenia, which some room for more fluff. Which hopefully explains a few things from the 41st

I wouldn't count on it. The studio have said on several occasions over the last few years that they're not looking to advance the story any further. The 'current' timeline is just setting the scene for the game... but your games can actually take place at any time after the Heresy.

There are 10000 years of history that are so far only very, very slightly fleshed out. So plenty of ground to cover before there is any real need to move things forward.

Huh. Now where did I get that idea from. I'm sure I've seen a timeline that goes beyond the 41st. This is going to require some research.
