Subject: Are you compeled to run if the roll is a bad one

I am not sure if this was asked before. But as the title can you choose not to run after you roll the dice based on the result? Accord to the rule book on the difficult terrain test you aren't but I am not sure if this also applies for running as well.

Once you have rolled, you are stuck with running. So, you can't go back and choose to shoot.
But, the rolled distance is a maximum movement. If you prefer, you can choose to stay stationary.

All movement, unless specified otherwise, is implicitly "up to" - so the dice just states your maximum possible move, you can always choose to stick where you are.

You would still count as having run, so no more shooting.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

From the latest main rule FAQ:
Q: Do units that choose to Run! in the Shooting phase
have to move the full distance rolled? (p16)
A: No they can move up to the distance rolled. Note
that once the dice have been rolled, they cannot shoot
even if they then elect not to use their movement.

I have found again and again that in encounter actions, the day goes to the side that is the first to plaster its opponent with fire. The man who lies low and awaits developments usually comes off second best. - Erwin Rommel
