Hi there folks. I'll cut to the chase on this one.

My hobby time is negligable, so I need to be able to deploy/undeploy my hobby materials rather quickly nowadays, and my GF absolutely detests any sort of clutter or mess (In fact, I constantly lose things because she is always tidying them away). Recently I have been bought a desk, which means now I don't have to balance all my stuff on my lap. So I'm thinking about getting myself a paint station so I can quickly deploy/undeploy when I get a little free time, but I also need it to be all hidden.

the desk has a cupboard, with shelf spaces 15"x13"x8", which means the GW one is slightly too big to fit. I have zero time to build my own, so does anyone know of any alternatives, specifically ones that fit that kind of space?

Thanks in advance Dakka!

I don't know of any alternatives, but I have a similar predicament. I use a couple of boxes like this one to keep the paints and so on in. That way I can just pull the box out, all of my paints are already organised, and get painting. When I'm done, it just goes back in my cupboard. Something like that might work...?

Thanks, I've got something like that to store my equipment, what I need is a surface to work on that means I don't have to pack everything away/take everything out before I start work.

Just somewhere where I can leave half assembled minis, the last couple of paints I've been using etc. to minimise the set-up/tear-down time.

OK, fair enough. I tend to use one of the sections (with protective foam in it) to keep models in that I'm working on. It seems to do the job for me, with minimal fuss for set up. I have to be fairly organised, so I can't have fifteen different projects on the go, but it helps with the motivation to paint the boring things as I have to get them finished before I move onto the stuff i want to paint.

Whatever small cardboard box that may be layng around...chopped in half to make a good container. I usually use a bit of double sided tape (well, rolled masking tape anyway) to make sure my mini isn't bounced around too much in there.

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

Well, scrap that idea. Get a few sandwich sized tupper-ware containers
