Hello everyone.

I'm Steve, a 25 year old Canadian living in China as a ESL teacher. Also a rather new 40K enthusiast who has slipped in to an obsession, namely with the Tau Empire.
I have about 1500 points worth so far maybe a bit more if I go a bit more crazy on the upgrades.... My current goal is to bring my tau army up to 2000 points
after that i think i will start another army....Knowing my habits it will probably keep going up to 3000...or until the wife puts a stop to it.

I look forward to becoming part of the dakka dakka community.

What's it like out there? My uni has a scheme that gives us the option to do the same after our final year and I considered it, but three months out there is a scary prospect...

In the beginning I just liked the models and the overall image of the army. After reading the codex and actually playing my first couple games with them i realized that they have quite a few advantages to make up for other shortcomings, an interesting army to play indeed I am having a lot of fun playing with ideas for a 2000 pt army.

Three months would be a great experience, I have been living out here for about 4 years, once you get past the first panic week it can be a very fun place (provided you arrive with the mindset that everything IS going to be different hehe) I would definitely recommend it, its a rich experience to be had and I find it to be very safe (if you look in the right places you can find very reasonably priced genuine Warhammer) PM me if youd like to talk about that, id be happy to share my experiences

Not really sure where to put this but I thought I would like to share with those of you that already are somewhat familiar with me that today I have won my first 750 point match against ultramarine's.

round 5 ended by the roll of a 1 with a kill point score of 2-1
not a huge victory....but i will take it

Oh, by the way don't be a jerk like the people who just say "welcome to dakka" on every intro page, as they're just trying to rank up by getting more posts. So, whenever you see the "Welcome to Dakka" message, it's not really a warm welcome, unless it's followed by a true, whole message.
Please don't be a jerk like most people and say "Welcome to Dakka" on every intro post, as that's just a sign of having no life.

Great job on killing those maweenies by the way

Sorry killy, but you can't collectively insult a large number of people like that. Maybe you're right, but "jerk" and "no life" are not ways to go about it. What is "having a life" to you? Are they not alive? I think it is better for people to say "welcome to Dakka" than to not say anything at all.

I'm sure you're a good guy, but go careful when posting stuff. I know.

Take care now,

Cosmic.

I guess, but it just annoys me when people use intro pages as ways to rank up, and not to actually greet a new member with a meaningful message. By the way I am a "drone without a controller," so I guess that does make me not alive... mostly
Sorry, Hans_Einberg for the side conversation on your page, it is yours after all.

So... how long have you played 40k for?

You're alright, killy, and definately not a "drone without a controller"... unless you're a Tau drone, and therefore very much a drone in control

killykavekommando wrote:So... how long have you played 40k for?

Ah, yes. Also, if you have any more painted (or unpainted) things to show us, Hans, we would love to see them!

no problem it kept things interesting.

I have not been "playing" 40k for very long.....i just have a 2 game record. one game was a 4 player annihilation battle in where no kill points were taken from me (i still technically lost due to my IG partner who decided to deploy on the other side of the deployment area got about 4 points taken from him in the first turn....but i still consider it a valuable learning experience and considering I stayed alive i don't consider it a total loss...
My last game was my first official victory against the ultramarine's which I mentioned earlier they did manage to take my ion head with a ion dreadnought from a drop pod but my crisis team got him good. Followed by a kroot take down of a scout unit...i would have had 3 KP's if i had one more good dice roll i took out another SM squad but its leader was left and assaulted my FW's though the FW's unleashed the fury and all rolled 5's and 6's for their combat retaliation unfortunately not enough wounds were made...

Sorry about that....the victory was a couple days ago and it still tastes sweet especially since I have had lots of people telling me that I should expect to get beaten a lot while playing tau.

In short i have been playing 40K for a total of 2 weeks maybe.. but i have been painting for 3 months
before I grabbed my first battle force i have never put the brush to a model.

I will post more of my army soon. i suppose i can take photos this evening

Yeah, I had been collecting and painting for a couple of months before my first battle-which happened to be against the black templars
My victory doesn't feel as great as yours, though because I had to mop the floor with my favorite chapter

Some good advice to get you started: make a new thread in the tactica area, or possibly log your army as a project in the article area, as that is a good way to get around dakka.

For the Greater Good! Peace Out!
