so obviously the concept is simple, and I couldn't think of where to post it, so it went here.
so the premise is simple, you proxy your flavor of warhammer with food. sounds easy enough right?
here are the additional rules that we are instituting that make the game more interested.
firstly, this is NOT a drinking game, I suppose you COULD do that, but both your liver and your gaming room would appreciate if you didn't (but if you did I want pics and a FULL battle report)
also, anything you kill, you eat. scale is good here. you can make them as small as M&M's, or up to full on steaks, just make it similar to the base game of choice (in our case 40K)
the army you choose, make sure you make it something somebody WANTS to eat ok? we understand Nurgle is gross, but ACTUAL rotting meat is not tastey and ruins the game. you can use snotty lime jello and other things, but please for the sake of others make it safe to eat.
also try and stick to a theme! eg: for our first run we are going to use M&M's as pieces. small board, cheap, easy. base MM's for troops, peanuts for elites, turtles for heavy, almonds for HQ, pretzel for fast attack etc etc. (they will be in different sized shot glasses as well)
eventually, we're going to full on make FOOD, like meatloaf tanks, tater tot pieces and the ilk.
its a simple concept.
so I want your input! what would YOU use for what army and why?
Battle reports and pictures to follow, and I hope you do the same! this can also make resteraunt time amazingly entertaining LOL!
Bon appetite!

I would playtest a game or two first against yourself. Just to get the rules sorted out.

A buddy and I used to do this with chess and shots. I don't think we ever finished a game, the pieces started to move funny after about 10.

As a fellow Shot Chess player i feel as though you may have been playing wrong.....
Were you playing each piece as the same type of drink? Or as the value of a piece goes up were the drinks stronger.
Example, we have played with beer shots for the pawns, vodka for rook/bishop/knight, tequila for the queen and a double (drink of your choice as long as its 40% alcohol) for the king. We found it leads to "better" chess as you aren't as afraid to lose your pawns to set up better situations.

Maybe that was it, it was all shots of whatever cheap liquor we could get out little underage college student hands on. I think the worst was cheap tequilla or ouzo. The best was probably Irish whiskey, though we did get pretty angry and ended up throwing the board

I'd definitely prefer the drinking version, but I wouldn't want full shot glasses running around my (hypothetical) sexy gaming board, so it'd likely be reduced to a standard conditional drinking game. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course. God knows I've played/invented more than my share.
There's already Beerhammer, of course, but dropping empty beer, at will (where there's a will, there are empty cans/bottles), as terrain simply doesn't work that well with 40K's mechanics. Now, Beerfinity... given a sprinkle of starter terrain to prevent a turn 1 shootout, that is a game I'd love to play. Granted, a game with ~10 models per side would also be very playable on a "drink per death" basis.
I've really got to start building that table. And getting in touch with local gamers. And finding the closest decent brewery with growler service.

I personally like their definition of last man standing.
I also like that the majority of the input has been about alcohol.
On-topic, it'd be awesome to do a 40k themed dinner party, with a tiny skirmish beforehand using hores d'vores, & some battles after dinner with a pie for the grand prize. But I like to cook.

Because the gaming lifestyle, not to mention the gamer stereotype, isn't already leaning to the overweight. Let's eat 2000 pts of m&ms. Apocalypse games would put you into a sugar coma! lol
