My first foray into painting Orks landed me in the Bloodaxe camp. I had fun with these, though the prospect of painting 32 more seems daunting. Ultimately I plan to work in other camo schemes into the force and mix and match the figures to give a hodge-podge look to each boyz unit.

Really nice. Cool scheme, and very nice paint-job.

Keep at it. It's really gratifying to see the giant horde of green on the battlefield. These guys look much prettier than my orks, but from my experience, they get easier and faster to paint as you go along. Superb effort.

Drill out those gun barrels!

Really digging the camo on these guys, especially the leftmost model's mismatched helmet - really gives the sense of imitation without understanding.

Adding my voice to the choir.
Very nice.

What I see way too often is orks that look like they came straight out of the shower, these looks perfectly dirty.

did you put some badad black on the gunz? It make them look dirty and used. Gryphonne spehia make a good rusty effect too so the gunz look orky

For the guns and other non-rusty metals I used the following:

Boltgun Metal (base)
P3 Armor Wash (this stuff is awesome and gives a nice oily effect)
Boltgun Metal
Chainmail
Mithril Silver

Gryphonne Sepia and Devlan Mud were used mainly on the clothing and leather to give it a worn/dirty look. I actually put a heavy coat of wash on the Ork's armpits and under their necks trying to simulate a filthy sweaty effect but it didn't quite show up as well as I had hoped so I will be working on a different recipe on the next batch.
