They are rather snazzy.

I particularly like the Ymgarl skulls adorning the banner.

After the pre-heresy dread from a few weeks back I don't think any of the current walking boxes designs will ever make me go wow again.

While I don't play Salamanders, this is a cool piece, just like the other chapter venerables. One thing confuses me, is the bas-relief arm to be included? Because it surely is not one of the "dreadfire" arms...

That banner pole is over the top literally and figuratively. Might be so busy it detracts from the main model. Otherwise, cool as always. FW Dreadnoughts are their best product for the money in my opinion.

From the description included on the FW site, I'd say the shoulders have to come with the Dread as they are part of the character's history/heraldry

anyone else thinking those flame splodges would work epically well for Marines errant?

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal.

Forge World Newsletter #279
Hi there,

Following hot on the heels of the new Contemptor Pattern Dreadnought unveiled in our last newsletter, this week we can announce that the eagerly-awaited Salamanders Venerable Dreadnought Bray’arth Ashmantle and the new Salamanders Etched Brass sheet are now both available to pre-order.

Bray’arth Ashmantle – Salamanders Venerable Dreadnought

The armouriums of the Salamanders Chapter contain many ancient relics; some bearing proud histories of glory and honour while others are burdened with darker legends. Sokhar Bray’arth, once a Captain of the Salamanders 4th Company, is the current occupant of the ancient relic-Dreadnought known as the Iron Dragon, fashioned it is said by the hands of the revered Salamanders Primarch, Vulkan, himself.
Bray’arth was interred within this revered artefact after succumbing to the grievous wounds he suffered during the now infamous purging of the moons of Ymgarl of its Genestealer taint. His strength of will combined with the dark machine-spirit of the Dreadnought in which he is entombed make for a potent warrior on the battlefield.

Salamanders Venerable Dreadnought Bray’arth Ashmantle is a unique MkIV Ironclad Dreadnought, designed by Simon Egan and Will Hayes. The model is packed with intricate detail including ornately carved and segmented armour plates, symbols of the Promethean Cult, and even a jaw-droppingly detailed bas-relief on the Dreadnought’s shoulder armour of Bray’arth’s death duel with a horde of Ymgarl-strain Genestealers.

Simon and Will have also designed two unique arm weapons for this new Dreadnought - which are sold separately. The Left Dreadfire Close Combat Arm and Right Dreadfire Close Combat Arm represent the Iron Dragon’s potent and unique armament. These arms can also be used with the full range of Forge World Dreadnoughts.

Full rules for Bray’arth Ashmantle can be found in Imperial Armour Volume 10: The Badab War - Part Two, and all three releases are available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing 25th July.

Salamanders Etched Brass Sheet

Continuing our Salamanders theme, we can also announce details of the new Salamanders Etched Brass Sheet, designed by Kenton Mills and Madeleine Tighe. On the sheet are over 50 symbols including the Salamanders Chapter badge, the unique heraldry of the Firedrakes as well as the flame symbol of the Promethean Cult. These symbols are suitable for use on both Space Marine infantry and vehicles.

The Salamanders Etched Brass Sheet is available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing 25th July.

Forge World Events News – Games Day Chicago and Games Day Germany

The full range of Forge World and Warhammer Forge products will be on sale at Games Day Chicago on 30th July and Games Day Germany in Cologne on 7th August.

Both shows will have the Chaos Dwarf Hellsmith show only model available to purchase alongside Forge World’s MkIII Armoured Boarding Space Marine. Mark Bedford will be joining Forge World model designer Will Hayes at Games Day Chicago, while Warhammer Forge sculptors Steve Whitehead and Keith Robertson, as well as graphic artist Sam Lamont, will be attending Games Day Germany. We look forward to seeing you there!

LOVE the dread, hate the brass-etch. The salamanders symbol is just...off. The proportions are just wrong, the heads are too long (especially the fins). This has been my problem with al the slamanders stuff from the old Griffon Games "dragon" decals to Chapterhouse to Forgeworld that has come out, they just never seem to match the actual GW decal.

The arms are very sexy tho, almost makes me want to restart my sallies.

It's the left shoulder plate, it's an additional piece included with the dreadnought body. like the extra shoulder armour in their MkIV Ironclad

I have to agree - way too much gak going on with that banner. If it lost the thunder hammers it'd be passable, but otherwise it's too busy.

And I agree, again, FW Dreads are some of their best products.
