i have been playing warhammer 40k for many years and have 5 diffrent armys (Chaos sm, chaos demons, tau orks and eldar ) but i have never tryed whfb and want to start an army i wanted to focous on magic and prefer no human armys (no brets or empire) and wanted to have your opion on a good starter army that has loads of spellcasting ability and options. also it would help if it had a smaller amount of troops for my wallets sake

Lots of magic, and less troops gives you 3 obvious choices.
High Elves, Dark Elves or Lizardmen. All 3 are power-houses in the magic phase (all have access to bonus power dice), and all can be played with very small model counts.

Keep in mind, that a 2000 point game in fantasy; 80 is a small model count.

Skaven also have a strong magic component, lots of unit/army options, and amazing models to boot.

Hey dont you be forgetting those chaos sorcerers they got some nasty magic so do DoC.

WoC my standard sorcerer load out comes to anywhere around 400 points maybe even more.. he also always earns his points back love gate way

Core untis are cheap 16 pts a model for a warrior and hes worth all 16 of those points.

You could always use your Demons. Tzeentch is the king of spellcasting. Even his core units have it to some degree.

When you say good do you mean force of order good or just a good army good?
