So I'm gonna stock up on some Ogres now before they get their release (which I have no doubt of) in October +-. When I looked at the GW website there wasn't an Ogre battallion anymore, have they stopped producing it or something? Damn I would really need to buy that... It's a great deal right now.
Do the stores also take the product off their shelves or should I march down there to see if I can get it? It's quite a long trip D:

Yeah, that means release is coming soon. They're redoing the box like tomb kings which means a price rise and 1 extra ogre or something.

Wouldnt that be terrible if they made knoblars good ish but you had to have millions of them I can see that happening and bulls would be completely under powered and useless

Yes. That would be terrible if that happened, wouldn't it? If a ton of expensive little wound counters could simply stop a few massive creatures in their tracks and pin in there for half a game.

See also: Skaven, O&G, the current state of Steadfast, the not-so-subtle trend to give the most in-game power to the lastest profit scheme available, etc.

God I hope they don't screw us over with the new models... I mean, 3 bulls in one pack? That's just wrong. I can see the logic of having 3 mino's in one pack or 3 river trolls but 3 bulls in one pack would just be a rip off. If this would be the case I won't buy any of the new models that they'll release for OG. And I guess wecan't excpect them to make the batallion into a fantastic deal either...

Random side note:

I did some maths though and it seems like the TK batallion is kind of a good deal actually. If you would buy those models separately that would approximately be 120€ +- (I'm not good at converting currencies.)
However if you buy the batallion which is about 90€ I guess you would save 30€ on that.

Correct me if I'm wrong though, it's like 2 am here when I'm counting this so my counting isn't that sharp sometimes

Also I may just be missing something that makes it a not-so-good deal. Like maybe the price increase or something?

Yeh, you save a lil bit more than 30bucks on the deal and it´s actually a good one imo.
Does there exist a batt. box where you have to pay more than actually buying the stuff box by box?
My Deamons, O&G, TK Deals were very good for sure. O&G even had the mega box which was pretty awesome!
1x mega box, 2x batt. box (7th one) and I was pretty good to go.

I got good deals on my warriors 12 warriors nib for 25 plus 3 for shipping and 1$ for each additional item so now I have 72 of them why you ask...? those guys are like 42 through gw.

They don't take stuff off the shelves but you'll want to call ahead and make sure they actually have it so you don't waste a trip.

As for getting OK stuff on the cheap, eBay is your friend. I had a huge bits bag I bought a very long time ago with lots of Ogre arms, heads, and stuff so I bought the bodies off eBay and put together about 14 bulls out of it. I made 10 with sword/hand dagger thing and am working on another other set with dual clubs. Both units have FC in case I want it.

Don't be afraid to get someone else's trash, either. I got a steal on some horrifically terribad-painted Leadbelchers off eBay (10 for about $45 shipped) and they're soaking in Simple Green right now. I'm going to have to invest in a new set of bases for them though. :(

I'm still trying to work out getting my hands on some Ironguts but no luck so far - I'm cheap and frequently do lowball bidding for bargains though so it's not do to lack of availability. I'll worry about gnoblars after I get my basic Ogre units built up.

So, you can get some great deals and make a very cheap OK army right now if you are patient. Once the new book is released there should be some (hopefully) wonderful sculpts that you can invest your money in. Plastic Rhinox maybe?

Time to post this again! But yes if you love ogres, better get some last battalions. Fantastic deal (try looking at ebay/online retailers, they probably got those)

I somehow bought one on a whim. Have yet to actually put any together though

On the USA site, the Ogre Battallion is still up...but the price is already raised to $105, and nothing is changed about it...so it begins...

Yep, if they were priced less I would probably buy more and spend more. And it really creates a barrier for entry for consumers. When I show my friends them they think they are cool then I tell them just for a starter army of like 1k points with army book/rulebook ect. they are looking at at least $250 bare minimum more if you buy from GW. I really don't know how kids play this game at these prices.

Sadly, basic economics says that if they can already sell everything they produce then raising their prices simply makes more profit.

Lowering prices to make more money through sales would only work if they had a serious shortfall in sales, which they don't seem to have at the moment.

SOOOO glad I bought my 3 Battlion Boxes about 6 months ago. With all the extra bits and stuff, I have custom made a Slaughtermaster and Butcher along with some spiffy looking ogres. And after all the crazy modifications, I still have a single complete Battlion Box left to make more ogres!

Man, that was such a sweet deal.

The SOM book and cards state ogre magic as "Lore of the Great Maw" not gut magic as it is currently known as. Also, they have a Lore attribute like the new lores, is called "bloodgruel" which ATM is the 1st gut magic spell, and gives wounds back like the life attribute. Also the artwork on the SOM cards is new, i havent been able to find it anywhere, so this with the lack of the battalion box is looking hopeful!
