Following quickly on the heels of The Dark Knight Rises, we have the teaser for the not quite so eagerly anticipated Amazing Spiderman.
This does look intriguing, although a retread of the origin story seems a bit daft with Sam Raimi's 2002 effort debuting less than a decade ago. Highlight for me is the point of view shot of some wall crawling/web slinging action.

Glad to see they've put Gwen Stacey in as the original love interest, not so sure on the ganky CGI Mirror's Edge esque webslinging bits.

Can't see the trailer as I'm at work, but going by Flashman's comment:
Why are they doing the origin story again? What is the point in that? Are they trying to capture the key too-young-to-see-the-2002-one and don't own DVD players market? Or did they decide that, no, wait, it didn't happen like that, let me start again?
Sigh. I don't know if I'll end up going to see this, but right now, this seems pretty stupid.

I'm glad they are redoing the first story, it'll make it even easier to pretend those old spiderman movies never existed. Spiderman needs a movie where is he a hero not someone to feel sorry for.

After Spider Man 3 they are going to have to do better than that to get me into the theater.
I always thought that Venom hitting the big screen would be one of the greatest moments in cinema. I haven't been that disappointed in a movie before. Well, other than that Wolverine abomination.
An R-rated film or two based on Maximum Carnage would be pretty sick. If they do that they'll get my Spider Man dollars again.

Yeah I wasn't too fond of the look of him or how he was being played, but Peter is a shy nerd with a lot of pent up aggression at the start of Spiderman- he only matures into a confident wisecracker later.
My favourite Spidey run by a country mile is the excellent MJS run where he's a schoolteacher.

It looks way darker than I'm used to for spidey. Wikipedia suggests that proto-goblin and Lizard are the villains, lizard might be cool, proto-gobby is meh to me. I think they should just let spidey lie dead for a little bit, kinda sad how Marvel started out with a couple great film series and now they have to reboot the reboots. At least Thor and Iron Man were decent, hopefully Captain America is too.
Oh, and I'm pissed that they kept that damned movie plot device that has spidey creating webs from his body, friggin' stupid, did nobody read the comics as a kid? HE USED FRIGGIN TECHNOLOGY TO DO THAT!

Ah, but Parker's science background was crucial to that and we all know how summer movie directors feel about character development.

It's one of the rules of comic book movies: #4 is the reboot. The only exception was the old Superman movies, and I don't think the fourth one counts as a movie by anyone's standards.

Apparently this version of the Lizard is intelligent, can speak normally, and wants to take over the world by making reptiles the dominant life form. I wish I was kidding.
Oh, and he makes his own web spinners, they aren't organic. Watch the trailer again and you can see them on his wrist during the Doom FPS moment.

Excuse me for being comic book ignorant, but I thought that Doctor Connor only turned into the lizard when he got angry, or stressed, or something, and then he was intelligent, evil, wisecrackin', and wanted to make reptiles the dominant life form, mostly through killing humans?

And is the Lizard always in lizard form, or is it still the "Dr. Connor got stressed out" form?

You sure? I didn't catch them the second watch through, and it looked like in the one scene around 1:20 he is pulling his hand away from his neck and he has webs stuck to it.

Aside from telling me it was the last batman movie in the series constantly it looks good.
Will old bats die at the end? Hopefully... doubtful though...

It is brief, but it is there. I was wondering about the neck thing as well.
To make people more confident about this reboot, it came about becuase if Sony doesn't make a Spiderman movie every so often they lose the license and it would go to Marvel. X-Men is like that as well. This is why no Spiderman or X-Men in the new Marvel movie universe.
