As the headline said.
I first decided on doing an ork army when I saw the Stompa model, something so awesome was a must have in my endless collection.
So I went out and bought a gakload of used models, luckily I got a lot of models from a guy who´d spent a lot of time making conversions on the vehicles and the rank´n file boyz making them look even more orky, if possible

I didn´t want green ork´s. I wanted something with some more "Ompff", something that made the boys look even fiercer than a vegetable coloured ork.
So red it was and it turned out to be a bit more work than I had expected but the results has been awesome, in my humble opinion

I am sorry about the pic quality, despite an expensive camera I still manage to fumble the results. But I hope they are good enough to give you an idea about my mini´s.

Believe me, it wasn´t easy, pesky creature tried to bite me all through the highlighting process. I think it was the fumes from the basecoat that drove it mad

I love it! it looks like they are covered head to toe in blood. I especially dig the Deff Dred, he looks particularly grim. And thats a beautiful cockatrice! Err.. Cockatiel.

Love the orks BTW! Never been a fan of non green orks but yours looks good.

Awesome. I love alternate skintones, I've never been a big fan of shamrock green for mutant fungi killing machines.

Orks are plants, they can have any colour. I like it!

Plus, the dark green pants and yellow-black weapons fit very good.

Red orks = best orks, nice army!

Red orks always roll 6's for movement. True story.

Looking great. So do they go any faster? The rest of the colour scheme really makes the red work. Is is algal bloom or have they painted themselves?

I like them , it's nice to see orks with a different skin color done well because often when people say they've done a different skin colour they slapped on any other color than green and then left it as is but yours looks good and really lifelike

Makes me miss my Red orkz. Ahh, nostalgia. They look really good, lots of contrasting colours too.

Nice red.

I definitely prefer my orks green, but these are solid, barring personal taste. The eyes, in particular, are fantastic. Yeah, they're just little yellow dots, but looking at those final two pics, especially, the effect is quite striking.

They make me think of even more crazed speed freaks painting themselves in believe they go 'fasta'

I like your Red, but prefer my orks Purple.

You did a nice job. I don't know why I love the ork model with the cigar so much but I do.

Before the photos came through "you're doing red orks?" I thought "they're gonna look wrong!" but no! they look great! And of course they will go faster - red ones do - fact. Ladygrey suggested they look like they're covered in blood. How about trying a few that are green but splash some red on so they looks like they have painted themselves with blood? Brilliant stuff. They Gargant/Stompa or whatever it's called & Kanz look great too.

They look pretty good! they put me in mind of Hellboy though! not that that's a bad thing at all! :-) nice painjob on everything! they look cool as.

One thing is taking a chance on an alternative color, another is to know that it paid off and judging from your positive responses, it did.

Bat Manuel, do you have a link to you orc´s? Id love to see them.

In the meantime I´ve finished a couple of other boyz. One is a commando, his backpack isn´t donne yet but I´d like to hear your opion on his camouflage paint.
The other 2 boyz are some I bought used and slightly converted into ´ard ones. The conversions are small but still look very good.
And finally a miniature from a waaayyy old GW board game, but the min was so charmiong I just had to paint him.
