Like it says above what is the most funnest or best fantasy army to start off with? And also what are the play styles of the fantasy armys.
I cant choose because all the armys are awesome apart from orges.

You can make 3 army's from a doubled up IoB box + a army book (dark elves, high elves and scaven) but the scaven is probably the best deal as you would get a massive 80 clanrats from it. Not the best starting armys but they sure are the cheapest.

How could I get convert high elf to drak elf.

The two armys that allow for the most fun are Skaven and OnG (both of these can be built into whackey chaos lists that are a blast to play)

I was thinking of getting a army of night goblins and some black orcs.

Please keep on coming with more reasons to collect a warhammer fantasy army.

I find that a pully painted and based warhammer army looks a 1000x times better than a 40k army on the table top

Yeah I know thats one main reason way im going to start a fantasy army instead of expanding my eldar.

To make darks elves you get the high elves and paint them black/dark purple. doing this i got to 1000pts of dark elves with not a single actual dark elf model.

I find WoC quite fun there is a lot you can do.

OnG are very amusing so are skaven.

Also 6k of fully painted skaven looks stupidly amazing.

I was going to say Ogres; cheap to buy and quick to build due to the low model count, being updated very soon,brutal in CC, under rated.

BUT, seeing as you dont like Fat Blokes, I would say Empire (who doesn't like big guns??), Dwarves (who doesn't like Short Fat Blokes??) or Lizardmen (decent fighting, great magic, Jabba The Hutt!!!)

I think the most amusing/ entertaining armies are:

1) Orcs n Goblins, there is so much wackyness in there it's insane if mean scary and stupid is your thing then they are for you.

2) Skaven are pretty funny too there are alot of crazy war machines and stuff, Screaming "Die Die foolish man-things" at your oponent can be fun. Plus if you lose you just blame everything on your useless underlings.

3) Vampire counts- Now initially not thought of as the most fun army but if you get into the whole I-VANT-TO-SUCK-YOUR-BLOOD mindset their is fun to be had. not to mention raising the dead and maniacal evil laughter is good for what ails ya

What about beastmen, demons, wood elves and tomb kings

Beast men are not too bad they win if you like painting a lot of skin and fur thats a down side.

Tk jsut got a new book I like the book itself their rules are pretty solid and they are a pretty solid army until they crumble haha.
Still good army,

Doc also good times personally I like a lot of red ones led by a big red one or a big blue one with some blue support magic.
Also flamers ftw.

WE are outdated and you end up buying a lot of tree king which is expensive and metal if I remember correctly.
If you want elves go with the high ones or the dark ones they both do better than the ones from the trees.

Ive now narrowed down the selections of armys I really like ,Tomb kings , Orc and goblins, skaven and the dark and high elves but I can only collect 1 at the start so wich one should it be and why please help.

Best deals would be HE and skaven buy a 2,3, or 4 Iob sets and trade off the army that you dont want for someone else's part that they dont want and bam army maybe add a few things like a hpa, wlc or what ever HE stuff you want and your set.

OnG look pretty cool new book which is nice new models too so awesome. Not as good of a deal with the whole horde thing but still quite cool and fun.

Tk a bunch of skeles 40 ish tomb guard depending on what point level a sphinx or 2 catapult 2 or 3 a casket hirotitan maybe a few necro knights and you are set once again not a super great deal since no super awesome deal pack.

I mean game play and painting wise.

Tk get army painter bone colored primer spray spray get a dip (also from army painter dark or strong tone).
Add colors of weapons etc dip done 20 skeles can be finished in under an hour (then just degloss spray).
Basically I would run them with minimum core.
Tomb guard unit with halberds fc banner of undying legion and have the casters cast the tk lore on them and they will stick around all game oh and also put a king and or prince in there so they have his weapon skill.
Support that with a sphinx or 2 a couple catapults casket and necro knights and you are set along side with a bus of skeles with a prince as your core.

OnG more painting time.
I would run them like my friend all orcs with a few war machines and done haha.
Make em charge forward and fight things thats what orcs do well so ya make em do it.

HE wouldnt want to paint them hate white but maybe paint em red or blue
Lots of sword masters and phoenix guard and a few sea guard with a few mages and possibly the book (not teclis for me).

Skaven WLC with a few large units of clan rats and slaves I always win with combat res and if I do loose combat I still have 20 more ranks than you muahaha.

HPA doom wheel looks cool so definitely would run one or 2. Just a silly army.

So ya thats what I would do.

Oh DE hydras and cold one knights.

At my games workshop they actual let you swap out the side you dont want for more of the other in the IoB box.

Well sir you are one lucky guy.

We here do it differently the guy that plays HE goes in buys a box and the guy that plays skaven buys a box.
Then the wrapping gets shredded and the HE player gets the skaven players HE models and the skaven player gets the HE players skaven.

Out of your list Greenskins and Tomb Kings are more fun (IMO), but Skaven and Elves would be cheaper to get hold of, as they're in the boxed set. I would do Greenskins; who doesn't like little green men on massive spiders???

I like the idea of an all orc horde Waaaaagh with Grimgor woot.

Skaven are totally funny as just dont cheese it up (pun intended) 1 hpa and thats all you need more than that is too much

Tk less funny more I dono could be fun to play seeing your opponents face when he chips away your tomb guard to half or less than half str and then boom your turn they are only down a guy or 2 or back to full str I enjoy that too haha.

WoC troll list or monsters is funny.

Right Ive finally decided to go with orcs and goblins at least for while.
anyway can someone tell me roughly what units in the ork and army does like black orcs, giants, ,goblin doom diver, arachnarok spider and so. I would really appreciate this.

I can't but if you go through the army lists and tactics forums you should be able to get a good idea of what people are doing. Then it's up to you to try out different formations, get feedback from local gamers in your area, and see what works. Just remember, you can always reform during the game.

Well I know a few things not too much.

So black orcs they march up beat a unit to dust and then do the same thing again.

Doom diver if he dosnt explode is good for sniping guys taking out war machines and is just funny.

Spiders well the small ones are good for gobos and gobo shamans.

Big one is just sort of nasty and tough.

Savage orcs also pretty punchy.

Spear Chukkas, while cheap and weak, are very much fun. Jeremy Voltek did a nice job balancing the cost to effectiveness. Now if you roll a natural 1 To Hit when shooting, you roll on the stone thrower misfire chart. One game I had 3 out of 6 misfire, 2 of which exploded.

Doom Divers are cheap, and deadly. The fact that they get to adjust the scatter distance by D6" is amazing.

I really hate Boar Boyz. I have 15 of them, and to me they suck. They have a nice strong charge, but then wait to die, even with 15 in a unit.

No Orc player can ever go wrong with loads of Orcs and or Goblins.

Mangler Squigs are cool, but beware of skirmishers and fast cavalry that can whittle them down quick. 3 wounds and T4 or T5 isn't super without any armor to back it up.

Black Orcs just kill stuff. That's what they do. They are the steady fighters of the army. They are also rather expensive, so beware taking them in low points. Grimgor is a huge boost to a unit of Black Orcs though.

Orc&Goblin magic is rather fun. Can do a fair share of damage, or debuff your enemies, making it easier for you to stomp their face in.

Overall Orcs are loads of fun. I go into every game honestly thinking how big my dead pile will get. It's not rare that my dead pile will end with 80%+ of the models that started the game in it. You will just simply have to expect guys to die, and do it a lot. Hope you enjoy your army!

I would say Skaven they are fun to paint. You can try the Island of blood to start off with. It has Skaven and High elves they are great models.

I easily stand by your post. Especially if its brets. With all the different colors. They look magnificant.

i have to plump for ocs and gobbos too, its arguable there that there is no right or wrong way to play with them as it all requires a spot of luck, if you take warmachines they will miss everything but your arrer boys will cause the opponents elite unit to flee, youl take black orcs which will get minced turn one by a cannon but your 40 gobbo's with spears and shields will tar pit his HQ

with orcs and goblins just take your lumps and hope for the best
