Subject: Anthropomorphic dinosaurs were somehow involved(Identifying bizarre childhood film)

I was talking with some friends about old TV/films from our childhood, and several of us remembered a particular scene where a scientist(possibly) throws an orange into a portal thing on his wall.
I also have reason to believe anthropomorphic dinosaurs were somehow involved.
Can anyone identify this film? Have mushed together scenes from several films to create my own weird memory?
PLEASE HELP

Can't help you on the film title, but this bit was in The Simpsons (I'm guessing it was parodied) in one of the early Treehouse of Horrors episodes where they move to a haunted house, homer throws an orange into a portal on the wall, and his hit by a scrunched up note that comes out of the portal which reads 'quit throwing your garbage into our dimension'

The only things I can think of involving anthropomorphic dinosaurs in terms of films and TV series....
Dinosaucers from the early 90s - I remember at one point it involved portals.
Super Mario Brothers (you know, that awful movie) - it involved a sort of wierd portal wall.

It could have been Sliders http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112167/.
If my memory holds ture, I think there was a dino-based race in that which was trying to subjegate all the other Earths. Other than that I've got nothing

Hmm, I hadn't thought of that..
But, where the Kromaggs ( IIRC that was what they were called) dino-based?

Taking that into account, the only film I can think of is Poltergeist, but I dunno if it had a scene like that, only that it involved dimensional portals.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

That's a reference to a Twilight Zone episode, with some other references coming in once he enters the portal.
As far anthropomorphic dinosaurs, the show Dinosaurs first comes to mind.

It sounds like either We're Back or The awful Super Mario Bros. movie as both involved anthropomorphic dinosaurs and wall portals.
