Hey everyone, this is the place for the Masters Division battles to happen. HawaiiMatt has bowed out of running the fights, so I have taken over.

So without further ado, the rules (as a reminder to the contestants and as a introduction to new readers):

1) Character and mount of any point value.
2) Roll off for 1st turn. Winner will shoot if he can. Shooting is limited to 1 shooting phase. Magic is limited to 1 magic phase (for each player). Shooting range is always considered to be 1" past the enemies base move.
3) Fights last 10 rounds. If both opponents are still alive, the area master will fire an organ gun at both, at the start of each round, until one or both, are dead.
4) 1 use items or 1/game, or 1 opponent items will only work once during the whole tournament.
5) Break tests, terror, fear, and stupidity tests are being taken.
6) Non-casters get a +2 to dispel attempts.
7) If a character is mounted, the fight continues until his mount is killed, or his mount kills his opponent. A character that is killed is eliminated even if his mount should kill his opponent.
8) Characters with illegal builds will have gear/upgrades randomly stripped off until he becomes legal.
9) The cheaper character gets +1 to go first.
10) Scouting, ambushing, or Vanguard each gives you +1 to go first.
11) Characters who aren't given names will suffer -1 to their leadership.
12) If you don't list your preference in striking at mounts or riders, you will always strike riders first, and mounts 2nd.

Match One:


Powerguy – Bob the Chaos Lord versus CowPow16 - Mlacaziuos tz dragon rider

The crowd gasped in awe as the two huge dragons entered the arena, both carrying riders equally terrifying. One, known as Mlacaziuos, a Chaos lord of immeasurable stature, bellowed a challenge across the stadium, pleasing the gods to which he served. The other Lord of Chaos, known as the Bringer of Bloodshed (or more commonly - B.o.B.) slowly raised his monstrous sword in acceptance. With this Mlacaziuos let loose his dragon, raining fire and a caustic fume loose upon his foe's mount, ripping open a gaping wound. Unphased B.o.B. urged his dragon forward, feeling the massive wings respond with some ferocity. The crowd cheered as the two foes crashed in the middle of the arena, an aerial combat ensuing before their eyes. Mlacaziuos was quicker than he looked, unleashing a flurry of blows upon the enemy drake, but none could penetrate it's thick armored hide. B.o.B. returned the blows in kind, driving his sword deep into the shoulder of his opponents chaos dragon. Inspired by his masters blow, B.o.B.'s mount unleashed a surge of fire and acid, wounding the dragon even further, before finally finishing it with a quick sweep of it's tail. Mlacaziuos now faced a mounted threat alone. Utilizing his speed, Mlacaziuos quickly struck at the dragons soft underbelly, tearing the beast open from gut to neck, bathing his armor in warm blood. Quite pleased, Khorne rewarded Mlacaziuos by hardening his armor. Despite his performance though, B.o.B. uses the Blood God's reward as a distraction and finds a niche in his foe's armor, wounding him. For several more minutes the two Chaos Lords fought tooth and nail among the rotting corpses of their mounts, each unable to penetrate the armor and wicked blessings of their foe. Suddenly, Mlacaziuos throwing his armored fist out like a hammer, knocked the Bringer of Bloodshed off balance. Quickly seizing his opportunity, he thrust his sword into his opponent's leg, and again into his shoulder. Panicked, B.o.B. speaks in an unknown hideous tongue, hissing one of the true words of agony at his enemy, causing him to double over in pain. Knowing he had little time to act, B.o.B. jumped to his feat and neatly removed the head of the unworthy.

Bob the Chaos Lord Wins!

Powerguy - your build is illegal. You have spent too many points on magical items and were stripped of your magical armor. You will no longer get that piece of equipment for the remainder of the matches. Additionally, your character has used Word of Agony and per rule 4 no longer have access to it.

BlackDow - Ponder dan Freidar versus HoverBoy - Shru'dar

The sky had darkened to a point where it was almost impossible to see the now blood soaked sand of the arena. Dark Magic was certainly at work, and Shru'dar's Cold One could feel it. Letting loose a deafening roar of defiance, the Cold One looked to the sky, following the strange sent of dried blood coming from within the dark clouds. Following his gaze, the crowd peered curiously at the sky. Something looked as if it were moving up there, but just as soon as it appeared, it disappeared. The sky grew darker and darker before anyone realized something big was descending upon the arena. The audience screamed in terror as the huge dragon of death finally broke through the clouds, bearing a Vampiric Lord whose gaze peirced the very souls of those he gazed upon. Despite the terror he inflicted upon the crowd, the ancient Oldone's iron resolve spurred him to charge this devilish creature, intent on ending his reign of terror. Before he could bring his mount to bear, however, the Vampire Lord summoned to him a wind of Macabre magic, carrying him swiftly to his foe. The Vampire Lord had closed the distance between the two in the blink of an eye and was bringing blow after bloody blow down upon the Lizardman before he had had any time to react. In an instant, Shru'dar lay broken in a heap at the feat of the dark lord, his weapon still sheathed.

Rogue Sun - Lorcán Cad'fael versus Lord of Nonsensical Crap – Ara-kor, Chosen of Quetzl

The crowd stirred restlessly, fueled by a need to see more blood showered upon the stadium floor. Before them was Ara-kor, Chosen of Quetzl, an imposing Saurus oldblood wielding and even more imposing mace atop his ferocious carnosaur. Across from him was a slender but savage looking elf, standing serenely in nothing but a robe. It was a rare sight indeed to see an elf get torn in two, and the crowd could hardly contain their bloodlust. Without warning Ara-kor's Carnosaur let loose a vicious shriek, charging the elf who stood mere meters away. Ara-kor tightened his grip on his mace, hoping to end the fight before it truly begin. Suddenly the air crackled and the oldblood could feel magic being harnessed. The elf in front of him begin to grow in size, his muscular arms almost doubling in size. His face turned truly savage as Lorcan unleashed the beast within him. Ara-kor had no choice now, he spurred his carnosaur to move in faster committing himself completely to the fight. The air crackled more as even more magic was summoned. The Chracian elf was still growing in size, his robes tearing at the seams. Suddenly a barbed tail revealed itself, joints turned backwards, teeth grew into fangs and two more heads erupted from the elf's shoulders. A fully grown chimera stood ready to take the charge of the sauraus. Ara-kor was going too fast to stop now though. His carnosaur smashed into the beast in a flurry of teeth, claws, roaring and blood. Lorcan quickly utilized his numerous appendages, lashing out with his three heads, ripping an arm off of the armored warrior. Blow after blow came down before the old blood could react. Out of now where Lorcan's barbed tail impaled Ara-kor through the chest again and again and again, filling his body with poison until it ran out his eyes. Lifeless, Ara-kor fell from his enraged mount, who guarded him like a sacred artifact. The carnosaur lashed out with all of it's fury, but it's four limbs were no match for the Chimera. In an agonizing scream, the carnosaur was ripped in two, painting the ground in a sickly black blood. A moment later, Lorcan had regained his former self, picking up his now tattered robes and calmly left the arena floor.

My I ask how my build was illegal? Afaik Daemonic Gifts don't count towards magic items limit, which means I have Sword of Striking (15) + Crimson Armour of Dargan (40) + Talisman of Protection (45) for a total of exactly 100pts. If Gifts count then I guess I just have to hope I don't run in to Killing Blow I guess.

I'm assuming I got nothing from the Eye of the Gods roll?

You are correct that daemonic gifts do not count, however, Sword of Striking is 30 points in the Chaos book. Meaning you're at 30 + 40 + 45 for a total of 115 points. Additionally, as your lord wasn't the one to have killed the dragon, you didn't get a roll. Your dragon killed the other dragon and as far as I know, eye of the gods does not extend to mounts (though I could of course be wrong, though it's a moot point regardless).

A crocodile smile curled Kholek's scaly face. The crushed form of Orion, Avatar of the Asrai lay fractured into the rocky ground beneath Starcrusher. He hadn't seen a fey-demon since the Dragon Ogre Empire brought war to the treants of the great forest, driving them across the mountains to the secluded stronghold of Athel Loren. The faint sound of thunder rolling through the mountains snapped the ancient shaggoth's attention to dark clouds billowing on the horizon; distracting him from the vines and flowers growing rapidly through the fissures of the earth in the rough outline of the fallen spirit. With a scoff Kholek marched toward a storm wreathed arena...

Match 4:

Kiwidru - Kholek Suneater versus rocksteadygreeny - Duke Wintemaul

A crack of lightning light the arena for a split second, revealing an imposing four legged figure standing on the arena floor. The 3 ton beast was a Shaggoth, a dragon ogre, but this one seemed different. The very air around him seemed mightier at his presence. The storm had called him, but to what purpose, Kholek Suneater, would soon find out. The creaking of heavy gears and the raising of an ancient gate across the arena drew the ogre's attention. A sickly mist began to slowly poor forth, filling the arena floor. It was nearly impossible to see the other side of the arena, the fog was coming on so quick. Still, the Ogre stood firm. Slowly a form started taking shape. Kholek could hear the faint sound of hooves as the dark mass drew nearer and nearer. Lightning cracked, giving the briefest glimpse of what appeared to be a heavily armored black rider approaching. Suddenly the midst cleared as the Vampire Lord revealed himself, a gaunt ancient creature, savage and terrifying to behold. Kholek stamped the red-stained sand beneath his feat as a challenge to the vampire, as lighting once again lit the sky. The huge shaggoth tightend the grip on his massive hammer, preparing to charge headlong into the vampire lord. Just as the huge dragon ogre reared up on his hind legs to begin his charge, lighting cracked once more and suddenly the vampire lord had closed the distance between them in the blink of an eye. Kholek barely had time to raise his hammer in defense as he felt the vampire lords lance pierce his thick hide again and again. His knees buckeled as the ligiments were cut. Blood started pouring from wounds he didn't even realize he had. The fury of this sudden assualt brought Kholek to within and inch of his life. Turning desperate, Kholek swung his mighty hammer, but he vampire lord disappeared only to reappear behind him with each swing. Swing after swing and the vampire lord would blink out of existance only to blink back in somewhere else. With one final prayer to the mighty Gods of Chaos, Kholek found the strength to swing his hammer one last time expecting to only find sand beneath it. This time though, the hammer made a sickenly wet thud, as the breast plate of the vampire lord crushed the creatures chest. The vampire made a horrifiying sound as it could feel it's bones shatter and impale his dead organs. Kholek seized the opportunity, shoving his armored fist into the creatures gaping mouth and ripping out it's jaw, ending it's cruel existence.

Sorry. Rest assured though, there are likely to be more. Plenty of other builds and characters to try out!

Sorry for the slow updates everyone. I've been rather busy with that real life thing as of late, but I'm hoping to get the rest of these written and posted over the weekend so we can get round 2 underway next week. Thanks for being so patient.

Kudos to you for taking over Dawn, commiserations to Matt (but a hearty round of applause for starting the idea).

Yeah he was half the reason I wanted Crimson Armour of Dargan, I figured 3+ ward with no multiple wounds would be only way to live more than a couple of combat phases. I'm not sure anything here is going to kill him very fast and even the Vampires who can restore wounds (with magic and with that magic weapon) struggle to outlast him, 2 failed saves and they are probably dead.

How does this work and how do I get in? I've got an Ogre Tyrant to throw into the mix. or is it too late?
