SO, I saw other threads on the debt issue and decided to make this separate thread(didnt want to derail the others).
What do you guys think of both parties after this ballet on the debt ceiling?, Personally I am annoyed and frustrated with both parties. They dont seem to work with each other to well(outside of certain groups) and even within the parties they seem to be divided.
What do you guys here think of these two illustrious parties?

My thought is that they are much too slaved to mass media and ignorance, but that the parties at least have a respectable enough "talent pool" of people who know what's what, even if they don't always get their way.
At home, there's a dearth of expertise I think, so looking at american politics makes me envious until I factor in the media.
Personally I think they should either break each party down into smaller parts or simply get rid of the party system all together. There is way too much factional fighting that nothing can get done in a respecable amount of time.

Unless you're a small island nation, or not a Republic, parties come with democracy.
Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.

So does Communism.

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.
I think these threads are funny because both sides basically feel the same way about their respective parties.
X think that Y are evil geniuses and that X are politically inept. Substitute Republican/Democrat, Tory/Labour, Menshevik/Bolshevik, or any other political opponents for X and Y.

In all honesty I believe both parties have some valid points but at the same time have their collective heads up their backsides.
... when X and Y are both equally good/bad for different reasons...one begins to search for a Z.

I see the political parties as pretty much the same. Both are working towards the same goal just from different angles.
My analogy I always use is two guys moving a heavy object like a fridge. They want to push it into place but to do so they need to wiggle it into place. So the left will push for a little while and the right goes back a tad. Then the right pushes forward some and the left goes back, but the fridge has moved closer towards the desired spot. Repeat over and over. Each time the left or the right will say they moved the fridge more, but only by both working together will the fridge finally get to the desired location.
Too bad they like to fight like howler monkeys. I'm not one to say that all politicians are bad, there are some good people in there, but you get some people that just look out for themselves and/or fight the other party simply because they are the other party. If they could just step back and work for what they think about what will really help the people then we will see a lot of progress.

Zombies?
I basically dislike both parties equally. I try not to think about American politics because it just pisses me off. All they do is squabble and bitch and its basically a bunch of kids on the playground arguing about who gets to use the swings, but they get paid a gak load of money to do it. Sure some politicians are trying to do their jobs, and try to do good things, but they pretty much get washed out in the mess of it all. The worst of it all, is alot of the times the way they chose to "solve" problems is to bandage the problem up enough to get it into a different term president and such. Yea, because thats how you should deal with your problems
To preface my post, I was raised strictly conservative. The army has shown me that the "other side" (as fox news puts it) has just as much validity.. So now I am much more of a libertarian or indedendant, this way i can pick and choose what i like.. and i can always hate the president (because who doesnt hate their boss?)
Anyhow, I think that both sides have succumbed to their constituents desires, and now their hands are tied by their party politics, and their special interest groups. This whole thing could easily be solved, unfortunately the bills that would have to pass would never get passed because it would mean the end of many senators' careers.
I hate the fact that people have become so divisive. Not the politicians, the people. You can basically run on a "Yeah, I may be a slimy a-hole, but at least I'm not a filthy democrat/republican." ticket these days. That bugs me.

Hear Hear!
You also have to love how their the ones squabbling, and yet over half the time they threaten US with "if we don't get this figured out, your not getting X, Y, or possibly Z!"
