Lets say the zombie apocalypse jumps off on your home planet, whether you are human, marine, or xeno You are a troop choice with access to any weapons, gear, bio morphs that are available to you in your codex, how you gonna roll out? lets try to exclude transports because a land raider would equal the end of any sort of zombie attack. We are looking for long term survival here, not just crushing the the moaning roamers at your front door but scavenging for supplies and helping others of your race survive. what you got?

Space Wolf Assault Marine with power armour, jetpack, lasgun and two chainswords.

I now have:
- the plot armour of the SW
- the superior strength and constitution of any Astartes
- unlimited power for the armour thanks to reactor backpack
- nigh-unlimited food supply thanks to the armour's waste recycler
- integrated apothecarium with auto-injector
- a rifle I can more or less recharge at any wall socket or at a campfire, if need be (possibly even the armour)
- dual wield chainsword for when the horde comes at me
- jetpack to get out of the horde if I'm threatened to get buried below shredded zombie remains

i think that nids would be super effective against zombies since they consume all biomass therefore nothing to be reanimated by the zombie infection. Also i wonder if a marines advanced anatomy would even be in danger of being effective by a zombie infection. However as a marine I would run lightening claws all the way. turn zombies into minced meat

Kroot Shaper with Kroot Rifle. Stronger and faster than a human, with a weapon I can find or make ammo for, and the ability to devour zombies and any other organic material for sustenance.

There are some who walk until their legs fail them and they fall to the ground. I find that respectable.
Then there are those who drag themselves further. I find that admirable.

Wait, wouldn't consumed zombie flesh mean you would turn in to a zombie? Anyway as IG, I would take carapace armor, bolt pistol, a power sword, Hotshot lasgun, and a flamer.

I don't think anyone would actually want to eat zombie matter, kroot or not it's just asking for infection. And the original poster said a TROOP choice. I'd take a carapace armored Guard veteran with a lasgun that never breaks, never runs out of bullets, and I can recharge energy cells almost anywhere

Are these shuffling zombies or super zombies? Either way I'd still be a BA Assault marine I'd never be bogged down cause I can fly away with a jumpack and have a chainsword and powerfist.

Edit-Forgot troop choice.

I don't know if a flamer is the best idea against zombies, it could just make flaming zombies...

Really, regular old garden variety zombies are no threat at all to quite a few armies in 40k.

That's why he has to be specific, but even garden variety could be bad imagine if you were on a hive world then their crawling over you like ants.

There's a Zombie Army adversary type in the DH game, called "The Pale Throng" that is the result of a particularly nasty piece of here-tech, known as the Sarcossan Wave Generator. These are shuffle-zombies not to be trifled with, as they don't rely on infection. The Wave Generator causes the dead to rise, regardless of what dead that is.

Even against a Deathwatch Kill Team, a few thousand zombies are nothing to wave off.

For the OP, though.... well, I'll just go with the bog-standard Devastator Marine with a Heavy Bolter and Chainsword in the event they close to CC.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Well the GKT is good, but this is better:

I would hop in a Blood Angels Death Company Dreadnought with Blood Talons and wipe out the zombie invasion.

Truthfully, in Commoragh, survivors are more dangerous than zombies.

It surprises me that nobody considere being a Necron Warrior. Sure, you're basically a robot zombie, but you're completely invulnerable to all zombie attacks.

as far as types of zombies we'll go with a hybrid of the "28 days later" fast and relentless combined with the intelligence of "army of darkness" style zombies. Something the war torn factions of 40k will actually have to pay attention to...
