Hi guys! I think I may need some help on a competitive Blood Angel army that I am starting up. I need help on what to get first, but something competitive. Also I might want to get some competitive death company but I need help upgrading them. Do you think the jump packs are worth it too? Anything would help, especially on how to build a competitive BA army.
-Thanks

DC aren't worth it due to rage... they get baited around. You'd be better off using them as veteran ASM or even RASM

Would rage count in a rhino or a razorback?

No, but as soon as they get out.
Trust me, DC are not worth it at all. Try vanguard veterans. They ae awesome. Or try assault terminators they are even better. IF you want something fluffy, you could even use sanguinary guard.
Everything is better than DC!

DC are nasty, but you need to follow a few rules and have a plan.
Never ever run dc on foot or with jump packs. A good opponent will just bait them and control where they go.
Always have a transport for them.
Always have a chaplain or reclusiarch with them.
That being said your options arerazorback, rhino, chickenhawk, or land raider for their transport. I think the best option is rhino. 9+ a chaplain is a good #, and if their rhino gets blown up it is easy to replace later in the game. Just have an empty rhino move in front of the dc between where they are and where rage will take them.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Reclusiarch =better chaplain.
They let them reroll to hit and to wound on the charge.
And no I wouldn´t say DC are competitive.

Do you mean the whole squad? And if they aren't competitive, then what should I get?(I think they are competitive because of points cost and rage)

Yes with a chaplain the whole squad reroll to hit and to wound on the charge.
They are perfectly fine in fun games, and they can be good if used correctly, but as far as competitive goes, they are overpriced and rage just makes them too unpredictable. Also they can never claim objectives.
I would get assault terminators instead. They are awesome. You can either arm them with th/ss for sheer greatness or give them lightning claws and let a sanguinary priest join them to give them furious charge and fnp. Very effective! Especially in a land raider

Ok to make this more clear:
A terms:
3LC - 2TH/SS + SS TDA Lib (rage, shield) + TDA Priest = 15 pw attacks at I5 S5 with reroll to hit (12 reroll to wound) + 3 that can be force weap if you need to (you loose rerolls) + 4 S9 I1 (rerolls to hit)
Still having 2+/ 3++ and 5++ on most of the stuff + having hood and full control + FNP
Total cost : 440 p
DC (to be semi-competetive)
8 ccw/Bp - 1PW/bp -1 TH + Rech...(w/ever spelling that HQ chaplain has) = 32 non-pw I5 S5 attacks + 4I5 S5 PW + 2 S9 I1 (all rerolls to hit/wound) + 5 PW I6 (not sure with his stats)
While having, 3+ / and 1 4++ T4 means very fragile to ID + very limited control of your own stuff...
Total cost : 380 p
IMO I would stick with A terms, I only use DC to get cheap Dread in troops section ...
PS. dont have my dex in here so some of the attack math can be wrong, however i do belive its accuarate. In a case it is i am sorry in advance...

Version 1: Take 5 of them with 4 power weapons and 1 power fist. Also add a vanilla chaplain and a razorback with heavy bolter.
This keeps the points down and makes them to a fierce assault unit. But its 420 points already.
Version 2: Take 15 of them with 10 power weapons, 5 power fists and 3 infernus pistols, add a reclusiarch with another infernus pistol and throw them in a land raider crusader.
This makes them into a hideously expensive deathstar unit. It´s 1090 points.
They are tough but they are not worth their points.
If you really want to use them, Ißd recommend Version 1. Just becauuse it keeps it cheaper and you have more room for some BA goodness.
Sanguinary Guard however are quite good. They are at the cost of a terminator and are very good in combat. I wouldn´t recommend deathmasks and plasma pistols on them, but id you fit them out like this, you can have an amazing assault unit and stand toe to to with most foes, if you get the charge.
Take 3 infernus pistols and a power fist. Maybe add the chapter banner if you want. They are quite expensive, but they are much better then DC!

Something competitive would be like lots of little assault squads in razorbacks and maybe a land raider with assault terminators. Occasionally you see mephiston or autocannon/lascannons Predators in a competitive list.
Sanguinary guard and DC are not competitive but fun to play whilest sanguinary guard is much better than DC

Synergy is key, not matter if you play mech or DoA. Go either full mech or full DoA since mixing dilutes effectiveness.

Well DC is interesting, however its not very competetive...in almost every build you can field better...
You want unit with rage thats fun, you are better off with new sisters...

As I said in a previous thread about Death Company: take 5 w/ 2 x p. weapons, 1 x thunder hammer and a Reclusiarch/Chaplain. 8 WS5, I5 and S5 attacks with re-rolls to both hit and wound should comfortably kill 7-8 models. The Reclusiarch/Chaplain then completes the squad wipe whilst the hammer is there should they rage into something tough like a Dreadnought or Wraithlord or something.
Best way to run them IMO.

Ok. So now that I am thinking, I want to get assault squads to start my army, probably to start out is two of them, Dante or some one else, and the Blood Angels Shoulder Pads/Assault Squad Shoulder Pads from GW.com. Thats a good start,
$100.75 will keep me on a good budget to sustain a good model balance. Good idea? any improvements? Dante?

So I take it you want to do a DoA army? If you want competitive w/ Dante give him an Honour Guard or Sang. Guard unit w/ a few meltaguns/infernus pistols respectively. His 'I don't scatter' rule guarantees you'll get 2D6 on your melta which usually results in a dead vehicle.
Assault Sqds are cool. I would mash together one Assault Marine box and one DC box: gives you loads of detail on the models and *tons* of bits to mess around with should you want them.

Well depends, dante cost's like what 15$ not sure...however i know (at least here) that box of SG is double the price of dante's box , however you can convert a model to represent dante (bit of Green Stuff and use melta pistol you get in pack), another to become a libby with JP , and use 3 others either for nice looking sarges + bitz. Which can make you save money in the long run. Depends on how skilled you are with converting...

Dc pack lacks axe, as dante has his special axe... on the other hand DC could be used either to be ASM or its good to become VV's (5 man sq. 4 plain 1pf on sarge +JP's)

Not sure about LA ... but still, depends on the way they are painted... red+ yellow helmets = asm , black = dc , dude even in BA dex you have dc's as ASM ... not sure this is part of tactics tho ...

So if I painted them like a red color scheme just how they look on the assault box, would they work? And do you think they would be competitive using lightning claws on a squad?
