So I just had a game and since I am now in possession of a shiny new camera I figured I would give it a test run. My list (GK) is rather tuned as an allcomers whereas my opponent is still trying to figure out unit sizes and just which units to include in an upcoming tournament. Apologies in advance for the unpainted models, but half aren't mine and the other half just haven't got round to yet. I'm also new to posting batreps in general so this could be a challenge adding pics and all.

So he won the roll to go first but gave it to me. I then roll for my Grand Strategy and get a 1...the Central Ven Dread became scoring (I did do this before deployment but I forgot to put it up initially). I also rolled a 2 for my Jokaero...36" range multimeltas. It's hard to see but he has deployed his Haemonculi with his Harlequins. The Shadowseers power is supposed to stop me firing. The result of my first round of shooting is shown below.

Good game. The WWP DE build is really a good build against GK's. Heck, it'll actually probably work against most armies. The only thing it needs are beastpacks instead of footslogging wyche blocks. That'll all but guarantee a charge on the turn they come out. Otherwise, GK shooting will prove too much against the fragile DE units.

DE really have it tough against a shooty GK army nowadays. It's almost like nidzilla going up against venom-spam DE. It's like a rock-paper-scissors matchup.


BTW, is that a hobby store you're playing at in Shanghai? Maybe good to know if ever I go to Shanghai again.

This is one of the stores yeah. Zarks. Actually was playing against the owner. There is a GW now but for gaming at the moment the local stores are better since GW is focussing on intro games and the like.

I have been trying to coach 2 of the DE players here about using faster builds but they are still practising. 1 used to play IG so playing a fast moving, lightly armoured army is a totally new experience for him. So far the games have been mostly very one sided but they are getting the hang of them now and have given me a couple of losses.

Playing against GK is tough though. My guess is they will do really well against some of the other locals.

Jy2 - there is actually a good gaming community here, both foreigners and Chinese. In the tournament we are in now there were about 20 players, only 5 of us were non-Chinese.

Cool. It's always interesting to hear about the gaming community abroad, especially in parts of Asia. I've actually been to Shanghai twice, but it's been a while since the last time I've gone. I want to go visit China again though. It's really beautiful.
