Are there any armies that you guys flat out hate?

When I began playing I also started with three of my friend, two of who have quit. It was me with Chaos Space Marines, G with Eldar, M with Tau, and A with Tau. M and A have both quit. For my first year of playing there was no FLGS in my immediate area yet. The majority of the time I played Tau. Eldar smashed me (and still does today), but playing against him was a breath of fresh air compared to Tau. Even to this day I seethe with anger when I see Tau, it's really bad. Unhealthy bad to the extent that I don't like them. I played a guy at my FLGS and took secret joy in dismantling his army just because they were Tau and no other reason. It almost sends me into an animalistic rage. I know this is really bad, but are there any armies that send you into a rage? Maybe not even disliking it because it's a strong army, I mean you just plain don't like them.

Do you hate Space Wolves because they're op? Or because their Space Wolves? I'm a Thousand Sons fan AND I just finished A Thousand Sons, so I don't particularly like Space Wolves. That pales in comparison to my HATE for Tau though!

There are no SW players at the store I play at, so my hate is based entirely upon their fluff.

Fluff-wise - Marines of any stripe. The Fanboyism on the writer's side is sometimes just unreal, especially in BL.

On the tabletop- Blood Angels run as an express-delivery Dread-blender factory for my orks, and Khorne Daemons for my Necrons.

Mostly Space Marines in general, specifically Space Wolves.
The Space Wolf book is better in all respects and game aspects than the basic Space Marine book. And their fluff sucks.
Space Marine hatred mainly stems from the Salamanders vs. Commorragh (500 Salamanders fight off and escape from the entire Dark City)

A lot of this.

Loyalist Marines in general are fairly overvamped and uninteresting at this point, but Space Wolves are just all kinds of awful. They can't decide what they want to be, and half the things they want to be are contradictory. They want to be the honorable good guys, but at the same time want to be the dark brooding executioner, the wild werewolf, the beer drinking hearty pranksters, and the bloody viking Berzerker all at the same time, and they just come off as goofy and stupid. They're a chapter of supposedly Space Vikings but somehow also have the mightiest fortress outside of Terra or Medrengard....how/why? They fire rocket artillery by smell, and all sorts of other ridiculousness.

They take themselves far too seriously while trying to portray themselves as not to be taken seriously, and it ends up as bad internet fanfic more than anything else.

That said, I've also historically disliked Eldar, despite the fact that I also play Eldar. Rather, more it's Eldar players with the typical Elf player mentality that everything about them should be better in every way just because, and that their Elf-things should be able to annihilate anything they come across just because they're "better". I remember an Eldar player I beat waayyyy back in 4E, who got legit angry about losing, but not so much the losing part, rather losing to the Imperial Guard, which he thought was completely unfluffy and shouldn't be possible and that something was wrong with the game, Space Elves just don't lose to the Imperial Guard you see. While not necessarily as extreme, varying degrees of this attitude seem to be highly prevalent amongst Eldar players, and indeed all Elf type players in every game system.

I don't hate any army but I don't like playing tau, I find that its normally a boring game, I attempt to get across the table and into combat, if I do I win and if I don't I lose.

Tau player here!

Has to be Blood Angels, Guard or Grey Knights.

Mainly Blood Angels for reasons listed above.

Guard is a unfair bias I have due to a guard crazed member in my FLGS. Nice guy but when he goes on about his guard he makes them sound unstoppable.
When you play a game and put him in a situation where his IG actually work against him
(tank squadron rules usually do it, if not its the amount of rail guns i put in the field..ect ect) he looses his cool and throws a temper tantrum.
Sometimes even demanding I re roll my dice during a game deciding hit on his prized Plasma turret w/ plasma sponsoons tank because "he was not ready for me to roll and was not looking at the table". that and several fist fights have almost broken out in the shop because he takes everything way too seriously and its best to keep your head down if hes having a rule argument with someone....i saw flying dice and almost a flying drop pod....:S

This has left me with a wee bit of a bad impression of guard (him being the only player in the store so its only natural to associate a connection between the two)
As I said before, Unfair. I am sure there are plenty of normal guard players out there

-end of accidental rant

oh yeah and I just... flat out don't like vendettas.

As for Grey Knights with their increasing popularity in my FLGS almost EVERYONE has a GK army and to be honest I find fighting against them to be a wee bit dull, but maybe that's just me.

Tau. Ugh. The word itself leaves a bad taste in my mouth, fluffwise, they're flip flopping like mad. Depending on who you ask, they're either good hearted socialists who want to unify us all, or black hearted space commies/nazis who run concentration camps, sterilize the lesser beings and are ruled by pheromone dropping super-fish people. I'm sure someone will correct me on some of this, but that's beside the point right now.

On the tabletop, they trounce my guard on every aspect except melee combat, and my guards get shot up before we get close. My only chance is to hope my HWT can bomb out some of the infantry.

I really don't like Chaos.

While I accept the idea of there having to be an apocryphal antichristal enemy in the 40k universe, I absolutely hate Chaos, especially their fluff. It repulses me.... CHUNDAR!! Especially Nurgle. He's the worst.

Well, aside from the fact that Chaos isn't exactly supposed to be "likeable", what about it is so awful? There's a lot to like and dislike about it, but there's more cool stuff there than most other races.

Well, no, that's not fair. I like the Orks, but I have a complete mental block when playing against them. Any sort of limited strategic or tactical knowledge I possessed is thrown out the window when the Green tide approaches. I like them, but they seem to have a rather large problem with me.

I hate the Deamons codex. I personally feel that they have no place in the 40K world outside of the Chaos book. There are just no roving bands of deamons that walk arm and arm and invade a planet for the hell of it. It just doesn't happen that way.

Deamons are to be yanked forcibly out of the warp. Sent on a path of distruction, and wisked back into where they came.

As for fluff, I hate most all Marine faction fluff equally. They are all protected too much by plot armor rated all the way to the ridiculous. For some reason the only exception is Space Wolves. I just dig the sons of Russ. Probably because I have selective memory and only focus on the cool stuff and ignore the daff stuff.

See pics of my Orks, Tau, Emperor's Children, Necrons, Space Wolves, and Dark Eldar here:

Orks. The fluff is awesomely hilarious, but unless you have an army list built for munching light armor and hordes, you're .
The only way I've been on even footing with Orks is when we have f-ed up scenarios that dismantle both our armies. Otherwise, I have 1 turn to break 4+ vehicles before I get a special delivery of green asswhooping... :(

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Oh, and I agree with jayden. Daemons don't deserve seperate books fluff-wise. I say make them a subsection of the Chaos handbook like before, with the option to run an all-daemon Chaos/CSM army if you so desire.

Imagine the feeling when you position your tanks, engines idling, landing gear deployed for a low profile, with firing solutions along a key bottleneck. Then some fether lands a dreadnought behind them in a giant heat shielded coke can.

That bit of fluff is actually very interesting. They come off as being idyllic and good hearted, while underneath they're just as wretched as anyone else in the 40k universe. That's the interesting dichotomy that so much of their fluff is built around.

And seriously, you have trouble fighting them as Guard? I'm pretty sure you are the first person I've ever heard complain about Tau being hard to fight. Yeah, you can't mash them up in hand to hand as well as Marines or Orks, but you can outgun them and drown them in cheap bodies.

Most of these posts are just coming off as "a bloo bloo I have a harder than usual time beating X army with the same tactics I use to fight Y army" and I don't think we really need this thread since we had one just like it a week or so ago.

In terms of background, I've never thought the Tau fitted well to the game-world's atmosphere, or added much. The Space Wolves are fun in principle, but they're entirely one-dimensional and their codices have been uniformly dreadful pap. Chaos and the warp have been dumbed-down from their literate, metaphorical origins to space-satanists with spikes on living in a generic fantasy realm of eeevil.

In rules terms, back in the day I loathed the Tyranids for being stupidly overpowered in 2nd edition, and despise the Space Wolves in the present one for much the same reason.

Hmm. I do feel better for sharing that.

This is mostly because I've only played for about 5 months, but maybe I'm just nublish. I haven't had too many problems with other armies. Firewarriors always outgun my guards mean too fast, and Jump shoot jump annoys me to no end.

Well, I expect most of use would prefer to avoid Threadomancy, especially in discussion threads that may have wandered OT or have had moderator warnings (As so many of these threads get...). Perhaps a better choice would be for someone to sticky a permanent "[Insert Army or Unclear Rule Here] Discussion" thread for each forum category?

Which do I hate? None of them.

I don't like that SM armies get so much attention from GW, but I understand that they are the main army and get the most time in the spotlight.

I don't think that Tau quite fit in to the theme of 40k, but I love the idea of a pure shooty army from a gameplay perspective.

I think there are many OP armies out there, but the strength of armies always waxes and wanes.

I know that there's plenty of bandwagon hoppers that just play whatever army is currently "best", but I tend to play with a more established crowd that is willing to wait 5 years or so for their codex to be updated.

So, there's plenty of armies out there that annoy me, but nothing that I outright hate. And, give it another 10 years and I promise you that you'll be "hating" an entirely different subset of armies.
