I always wondered about your Avatar, is it from the password in Deus Ex (as there is one in the Boat section that's Reindeer Flotilla) or from somewhere else..

"Reindeer Flotilla" is an original Tron movie reference. Deus Ex, if they used it, was giving a shout out to Tron.

When Flynn is hacking his Group Six access in the beginning, he types in "Reindeer Flotilla" as a password.

You might want to try 1/48 or even 1/35 patriot missiles for that thing.

I have enough parts to build two missiles. So, I should be able to raid my bitz box, and build two of the six launch rails.

I love saying "Launch Rails".

My next step, however, is to take on the crawler portion, give it proper rivets, engine gubbins, and final details.

Tasks:
Tractor - Built, no primer, no paint
Crawler - Needs Detailing
Platform - Needs Detailing, Missiles
Disco Bridge - Needs Detailing, Radar Superstructure

So, the way things are shaping up, I'm looking at mounting four lascannon/havy flamer moduls on the corners of the Carriage, plus some twin-linked heavy stubbers for giggles, on the back deck. Some searchlights. So, it'll have two twin-linked lascannons, four single las-cannons, four twin-linked heavy flamers, and a pair of twin-linked heavy stubbers.

Oh, and some missiles. But those aren't important.

Oh, I guess they are.

What SHOULD the missiles do? BOLS/Fly Lords have a pair of Armageddon templates per missile, no cover save, removes 'organic' terrain under the blast (trees, etc.)

Thoughts? Should I lean more towards the Deathstrike "Countdown" approach that evaporates a table? Explosions powerful enough to negate invulnerable saves? (suck it, demons) 1d6 structure points? "Breach hull, all die", even had it underlined?

Thoughts?

Well I think it needs a deathstrike countdown, to unleash all its payload in one turn. to ignore invulnerable saves it would have to have an astronomical points cost... plus thats too much like the vortex missiles. also It needs a minimum distance for targeting, which can't be small. I think it needs a D3 payload per-missile of 7" templates like the manticore launcher. but all missiles must be launched in the same turn.

hows that?

Thats kinda op though.

Id say:

SD.....AP1...... 10"Blast...... One-shot...... Range >48"

Due to the complicated firing procedures, the ordinatus golgotha can only fire 1-2 missiles per turn.

Ancient Technology:

The Ordinatus Engines are hallowed constructs, dating from the golden age of imperial technology. Much of the knowledge on these leviathans has been lost to the echoes of time, the adepts who control these machines struggle to convene with the machine spirit.....

Roll a dice and add the turn number, before consulting the following table:

1-5 = The Machine spirit of this venerated machine has not been riled enough to unleash destruction. Roll again next turn.

6 = Target Locked. The ordinatus may fire as normal from this turn onwards.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Youd be looking at 14/14/13, perhaps 10 structure points?

I quite like this rule too

Dispersion Field: Each Ordinatus each protected by a specially designed and constructed Dispersion field. More powerful than a void shield, these structures provide more protection, but their immense power requirements slowly cause them to weaken. If any hit is caused on a vehicle with a dispersion shield roll a D6. If the roll is greater than the current turn number (and always on a 6), the shot is completely blocked by the shield and has no effect.

or this

Dispersion Field

The Ordinatus is protected by a massive energy field that can deflect any ranged attack, but loses power rapidly once activated.

The following rules apply:- The Ordinatus recieves a 2+ save against any rolls on the Super-Heavydamage table. The first time this save is failed (a 1 is rolled), the DispersionField is down for the remainder of the game

Id say youd be looking in the region of 2000-3000 pts myself. I guess warlord cost (2500) would suit.

Hmm i see what you mean.

I dont think it suits just void shields though. Perhaps a 2+ invuln that gets 1 worse every turn?

I think a better interpretation of that last idea would be that the shield gives a 2+ save on the turn it's activated (and it can be activated on-the-spot)... i.e. in response to an incoming attack. After that turn however, the shield's energy reserves are depleted and it no longer functions.

On a boat, Trying not to die.

Try 14/14/12, 6-7 Structure Points,0 Void Shields, must stay still for one turns before firing. Can fire only one missile per turn.

10' Blast (Possibly 2D6 Apocalyptic barrage At 9/2), St: D, AP1, One Shot. Has Five. May only shoot once per turn.

Moves D6 inches. If moved, cannot shoot. When destroyed, if any missiles are left, count as firing on center hull.

Missile has a minimum range of 36". Any unit that can draw LOS to it gets +1 Ld, to a max of 10.

1500 points.

What about 6 SP and 2 Void Shields for 2000?

No, I rather like the rules discussions. BOLS uses the 'invulnerable shields' rules, but I suspect standard Void Shields are more in line with the 'Epic' rules, per-se.

I do, however, like the each-turn-the-shield-weakens concepts.

What I'm going to do is gather up all the suggestions, compile them, and then make a poll. I'm also going to crank out the old VDR from Chapter Approved to see what that makes. I know that it'll be way, way off, but it'll be a nice benchmark.

Thanks guys!

Yeah, I think the sheilds should be an automated thing.

Maybe something like this:

Dispersion Void Sheild: When the first glancing or penetrating shot hits the Ordinatus, it gains a 2+ sv that turn, due to the sheer size of the vehicle, the power output weakens every turn after. so every turn after its activation it lessens by one point, e.g. 3+, 4+, 5+ etc. In addition, If the Ordinatus attempts to move after the dispersion sheilds activation, Roll a D6, on a 4+ it may move as normal. on a 1-3, it loses D3" of movement.

And for the missiles:

Ordinatus Exterminatus Missile system:

Str D Ap 1 10" Blast, Special Ordnance barrage (how ever many missiles it has) 1 shot. Countdown to annihilation.

Countdown to annihilation: The Ordinatus may fire as many missiles as there have been turns. e.g. turn 1 = 1 missile and so on. but Equally the Ordinatus must meet the following criteria to fire.
It must not have moved this turn, suffered a crew stunned or crew shaken result. Other than this, you must roll a D6 and score a 6+ to fire a missile. the Dice roll may be modified as follows.

+1 to the dice roll for each turn the ordinatus has been on the table.

+1 to the dice roll for each turn the ordinatus has not fired a weapon (including missiles)

The ordinatus missile system cannot be destroyed by a weapon destroyed result, but if it suffers a weapon destroyed result, you must modify any dice rolls by -1 for each result of this kind for that turn only.

for structure points I think it should have roughly the same amount as a Reaver titan. As for points, I have no idea tbh...

What do you all think?

Why couldn't a "weapon destroyed" result just reduce the number of available missiles by 1?

I think a vehicle of that size would completely ignore "crew shaken" results.
