I know that IG Stormtroopers suck but I keep missing them when I don't use them. They fulfill a suicide deep strike melta role that is difficult replace without a horde of Valks. Once they deepstrike next to a Landraider and I roll 1's or 2's for a big whiff I don't think I have ever survived to the next turn. I like the Kasrkin models and keep thinking that these are supposed to be the elite of the elite of the IG army. Then I play them.... and they suck. I know Vets in a chimera are a better value.

Ogryns are the same. I like the fluff, especially Nork, but what a waste of points. Yet the table doesn't seem to be the same without them.

I should just melt my ratling models down. Enough said.

I know these units do not even come close to making up what their points cost but I keep holding out against fate and hope that one game they will actually do something constructive. There are many other things that I could spend the points on but who wants an all spam army?

I've heard it said that the definition of insanity is do the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. Is anyone else out there out of their mind like me?

The sad truth about 40k is that fluff won't always match what you field :(
You fluff can say a a legendary grot that has killed 50 terminators but...you know.

Mephiston. He represents my Primarch, it would be remiss of me not to use him from time to time, even if in most cases he is god-awful.

A few people laugh at me, but they work. Guardians and Swooping Hawks.

I play Pariah, an already terrible unit in an outdated codex, with almost every time I play Necrons, hoping and praying that they'll get into assault and rip the enemy to shreds. They never do but I play them expecting it just the same

I play ratlings. They have their uses, but I only use them to fill out the list.

I use Chaos Dreadnoughts, Stormtroopers, and most of my Marine captains have powerfists because they're Crimson Fists. I haven't had issues running any of these supposedly terrible units.

I can't use Vespids without getting a weird look or snarky comment, but I sure do love them.

There are some who walk until their legs fail them and they fall to the ground. I find that respectable.
Then there are those who drag themselves further. I find that admirable.

Wraithguard! Really, isn't it much cooler to destroy a tank using portals taking them into a chaotic, daemonic dimension, than just melting them?

Running "terrible" units is only a big deal if you're playing against super competitive, math-hammered lists.

My friends and I use "terrible" units all the time to great effect, it's not a huge deal really.

My tankbustas don't really bust that many tanks every game, but they are cool and are SOMETIMES worth it. The bigges reason for taking them is the fact that i spent alot of work on them and they look awsome (to me at least)

LOOK!! a shameless self-promotion! (gasp!)

Flash Gitz, I really really want them to mow down a squad of Marines. But ultimately they are better at beating them to death.

I use Pariahs fairly often, despite not being "Necrons", making Phase Out more likely, and despite them being pretty expensive footslogging units. I usually try to block LoS with a Monolith, until they can assault, and when they do stuff does admittedly start to die. They are also good against Tyranids, because they make Synapse Creatures cry.

I have also used Flash Gitz. By all rights, a far inferior choice to Lootaz. But I love them so much lol, and one time I vaporised a Bloodthirster in a single round of shooting.

Space Marine Assault Squad. I just can't seem to get them to work for me. Even with a Chaplain attached. ...but I love using them.
