Hi chaps!

I'm currently looking for a unique color scheme for my upcoming nids army. Here's my first take on a tyranid model so please be gentle .

The model took me around 6 hours to paint, I should be able to speed up that process when I got more used to the different paint steps.

Anyways, comments and critics are highly appreciated!

That looks pretty good

Only thing i would say, is that the carapace is maybe a bit to light in places, if you made it just a bit darker (not much at all) it would stand out a bit more from the skin. But thats not too big a deal really, its still easy enough to differentiate, you just don't have a huge amount of contrast, which actually might be a good thing with this scheme.

Thanks, mate . I suck at regular blending too, good thing is that I use an airbrush for it !

Exactly what I wanted to show! I didn't want to use the regular 2 colour high contrast paint scheme most tyranids look like. But I might alter the carapace brightness from one tyranid to the other to get a bit of diversity.

Love the scheme - looks like a big nasty crab. It'd be great to see it across an entire army.

My only problem is that.... painting a tyranid army like that would consume a lot of time.

Violence is not the answer, but it's always a good guess.

But when its done its an army to be proud of... I have had my Marines for 6 months and have only painted 7 of them.

I'm a huge fan of high contrast paint schemes so while this doesn't exactly grab me, it's technically well done. I really like the blends on the carapace, they make it very realistic.

Swish !

Looking awesome!

Only thing i will say is that the Carapace on its back in the middle, where you have to glue that seperate piece on, is SLIGHTLY out of place (you can see the gaps in it)

But looking good

In your wardrobe, looking for Narnia.

Wow, he looks wonderful! I really love your choice of colour, but I am not a big fan of the grey claws. They look a bit strange compared to the rest of the model. Nice, but strange. Everything else looks amazing though.
Looking forward to seeing more nids in the same scheme.

Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee.

I really like it.

The only thing thing that 'bugs' me about it is that some of natures meanest creepy crawlers have bright and contrasting 2 tone colour schemes.....
You don't get very many venomous, evil insects etc that blend into the background.
But I digress, awesome paint job sir!

Oh look! It's a giant enemy crab!

On a serious note, that is a beautiful Carnifex! The base makes it seem even more imposing; how much more do you intend to paint in this scheme?

The color scheme is really cool, many people have already pointed out what I think could be improved (like the contrast, or the carapace being darker)..

Wow, looks great! I love the base work you did, really brings out the size factor of the carnifex, to me. I may be wrong, but don't tyranids essentially evolve their colours to match the biosphere of where they're fighting? I feel like your colour scheme would be a perfectly suited evolution if they were to land on a planet with heavy forests or even desert. Keep it up!
