ARD BOYZ prelims: Jackson, TN

We had 14 players

1- Tyranids
1- Space Wolves
1- Blood Angels
1- Imperial Guard
1- Black Templars
1- Necrons
5- Vanilla Marines(2 cato, 1 calgar, 1 pedro, 1 khan)
2- Grey Knights
1- Sisters of Battle


A pretty varied meta. I don't get to run down to the store and play a whole lot and I was actually figuring to see more GK, BA and IG than what showed up and WAY less "blue" marines. Also of note is that none of the 3 players who could have brought orks opted to do so. Most of the players are pretty well "seasoned" and it should be a great event with some good games all around. I took my camera with intentions of taking lots of pictures from the rounds but I only took like 6, too busy talking and playing. I can't ever remember to take enough! So, I decided to post a round by round summary....I can get copies of most of the lists if anyone wants to see any of them.


The 1st round had some interesting pairings and results:
Black Templars pull a minor win against Double Storm Raven Crowe GK
Bugs massacre Cato Marines
IG massacre Blood Angels
Draigowing gets a minor victory over Pedro Marines
Khan Marines are 2 Necrons away from phase out but only get minor win
SW Ragnar Deathstar Massacres Calgar Marines
Cato Marines pull a minor win against Sisters of Battle



Round 2 went like this:
SW Ragnar Deathstar pulls a major Victory against IG
Double Storm Raven Crowe GK get a Major victory against Necrons
Bugs massacre Cato Marines
Khan Marines massacre Sisters of Battle
Cato Marines get a major victory against Calgar Marines
Black Templars massacre Draigowing
Blood Angels massacre Pedro Marines



The 3rd and final round:
Bugs get a major win against Ragnar Deathstar
Khan Marines massacre Black Templars
Crowe GK pull a major victory against BA
Calgar marines drop
Cato marines drop
Pedro Marines suffer a minor loss to Sisters of Battle
Necrons get a minor win against Draigowing
IG suffer a minor loss against Cato Marines



After the dust settles:
1st- Bugs
2nd- Khan Marines
3rd- Ragnar Deathstar
4th- Crowe GK
5th- Cato Marines

Hat's off to the guys at Nerdvana. They did a great job keeping the flow and maintaining order. I hope all who atteneded had as good a time as I did. Good luck to all at the semifinals. I've got to decide which army to take....orks, my Khan marines or CSM.

Interesting to hear the results, surprised the blood angels didn't do better. What type of army was the nid player using, lots of mc's, a mixture or a crapload of critters?

Ohhhh....my 5 psyfleman dreads would really look forward to a warrior-spam tyranid list.

Congrats. 2 massacres is not an easy task, even for Khan marines.

It's kinda funny you were talking about Warrior spam....because the nids list was pretty far from what most would consider a typical nid list:

He Had
Swarmlord with 2-3 guard
Tyranid Prime with 10 Warriors(all Lashwip/bonesword)
2 Venomthropes
3 Hive guard
10 ymgral stealers
Tervigon
1 unit of gaunts
2-3 units of 7-8 stealers plus Broodlord
1 big unit of Hormagaunts
1 Trygon Prime

I think that's pretty close. I'm not sure on exact numbers on the stealers and he may have had another Trygon. He says he will never leave home without the venomthrope/big warrior bomb again. It apparently raped things in all 3 games. I didn't get to play him but did see the ending to the final round against the Ragnar deathstar and it was ugly but he killed the close to 800 point(including the LRC) deathstar and both HQ and that was enough to push the game to him.

Thanks on the kudos jy2! I was so stressed after almost phasing out the crons and just getting a minor win but he plays kinda slow and we only got to finish 4 turns, I have no doubts that if we had another turn he was out! Both of my other games finished and I was pretty determined to at least get Qed for the semis. I look forward to seing everyone in Jacksonville AR again this year!
