I'm an Ork player at heart and have a decent amount of Orky goodness, but I want a secondary army that's somewhat fluffy and fun to play for those odd nights where I want to be super serious. My next step is to build an Imperial Fist army. Unfortunately I don't know where to start - I've never played Space Marines, just read a lot of the lore.

A bit about where I want to take it:

I want a shooty/mech army

I want to use Lysander. Probably getting an assault Termie sqaud to pair with him

But to start off, I was thinking about getting 2 tac Squads. I'm going to take my time on painting and modeling (which will give me time to get funds to get more IF stuff).

If someone can point me to a list that fits this playstyle and/or some suggestions on how to kit out squads and make a list like this, it would be greatly appreciated. I've done some searching thus far and have yet to find one that fits my goals and is effective at the same time.

Thanks!

Lysander is better with Tactical Terminators or Sternguard Veterans to take advantage of Bolter Drill.

First thing's first though, I'd get Lysander, two Tactical squads and paint them up. You'll need those no matter what list you end up building.

- Imperial Fists - 7290
- Deathskulls - 6150

Sounds good to me!

As for Lysander, I read some other topics regarding IF lists and most said he's a beast in CC (With the hammer) so to run him with Assault Termies. I was thinking about going with the Sternguard or tac Termies as well, but decided to go the other way based off of what I read. Sounds like he's a beast either way!

Also, need advice on kitting out the squads - Meltas, Lascannons etc... something that's well rounded.

Meltagun, and Missile Launcher tend to me the most common and versatile.

He is a beast in CC. Which is why you don't need him with other assault termies, IMO. Give Bolter Drill to special issue ammo, and then crush dudes in CC when they come to fight you off.

I agree with wtwlf. Tac termies and especially sternguard benefit much from lysander.
