So, I've decided to turn my assault squad into Sternguard Veterans. I like the way the Sternguard have got the different ammo types and combi weapons, and though these boys don't have the years of experience of your classic Sternguard Veterans; the heavy savage Tyranid attack on their homeworld that killed half the legion has made them hardened veterans before their time.

This particular gentleman lost his arm in the attack to a rampaging carnifax. He killed the carnifax but he couldn't find a chainsword soon enough to retrieve his arm from it's stomach before extensive damage was done from the stomach acid. He's added the bayonet to his multimelta so as to avoid that ever happening again. His extra ammo is easily accessible from his ammo bags, heavily influenced by (read, stolen directly from) ManU26's Smiley Legion. Some hastily applied veteran laurels painted on his helmet set this soldier apart from the sorely needed new recruits.

Apart from some obvious touch ups, what do you guys and gals think?

I like him. It's cool that you develop a backstory for your mini's. Lots of death at the end of that bolter

Very nice indeed, but the only thing that doesn't really fit well is the cod-piece/ammo pouch (Insert pun about firing blanks here).

I'll insert something, but it won't be a pun. It'll be an innuendo. Hey-oh!

Do you mean the colour of the pouches?

I just mean the positioning in general, two huge leather pouches hanging over his 'nads.

you know doctor, I'm getting a little tired of the sexual inuendos

I love the model that bolter looks totally badass, but I agree about the ammo pouch putting it to the side a little would have looked better but meh it doesn't matter that much

This gal's husband was using Special Issue Ammunition...

(Yes, that's Octomom)

As for the model, it looks good but those pouches should be a bit higher. Kinda hard to run around like that.

Alright, if everyone's going to get testy about his bag I'll just sack the design and have him fixed...I mean I'll fix him up. I don't want to cover up the aquilla though!

Pouches are best put on hips or the back of the belt. Fanny packs come back in a big way in the 41st millennium. Aside from that, the lack of basing is detracting from the mini. Looks good though.

I based my shotgun scouts finally. Couple touchups and they'll be ready for a photoshoot.

He's a triple threat! Thanks, btw. I'm glad you like the backstory. I made up the part about cutting his half disolved arm out of a carnifax as I was writing the post.

In other news I hiked the two middle ammo bags up right under the aquilla. You guys were right, it looks much better and Niinez doesn't bang his knees on his dragonfire ammo when he runs anymore. I forgot to bring my camera to work so I'll have to put up another pic later.

Cheers, all!
