On the battlefield, in that dark corner you forgot to check.

Nothing special, but not as terrible as I was expecting it to be. I'm particularly happy with how the base turned out.

Wash the whole model with either devlan mud or badab black.
Do that and you get a decent miniature

I don't want to be human! I want to see gamma rays! I want to hear X-rays! And I want to - I want to smell dark matter! Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can't even express these things properly because I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid limiting spoken language! But I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws! And feel the wind of a supernova flowing over me! And I can know much more! I can experience so much more. But I'm trapped in this absurd body!

This is your first time painting?! Dang, it looks like my paintjob after my 3rd unit!

I guarantee you that I'm not really as smart as the test says:

i would love to show off my first paint job, but it was so terrible that i think it ran away and hid forever, or jumped off a bridge.

if my first paint looked like that, i would be winning golden demons by now....

great job, just now its time to learn your first advanced technique.

washing.

grab a bottle of badab black, and get some on your paintbrush and run it all over the model. let it sit in and do its job, and remove an excess with a brush before letting it dry.

the wash will fill in all the greaves and pits in the model, giving you more depth than what you have. also, it will help create more contrast between the colors, creating a more tonally correct model.

great work for your first time out. i am not great by any means, and many of us arent, but its the leanring process that makes this fun.

if you have any questions, just let me know, i will be more than happy to help any way i can (although truth to be told, they are some amazing painters here, and i am not certain how good my advice is compared to theirs!)

Wash face with devlan mud! but save the eyes, those are really nicely detailed.

One step away from an awesome model!

Damn, this looks amazing for a first job! My first model was nothing like this. Kudos to you. I agree with the others, a bit of wash and it will look really good.

Yes, wash.

Also, paint looks a bit thick over details like his hand and over the skull on the rifle. Try mixing your paints with a little water or other flow aid (like acrylic medium) and I think you'll preserve the details better.

Oh, and the camo looks aweseome.

My first mini was painted with testors gloss enamels.

Looking good for a start, keep at it. I wish I had not taken so long of breaks in painting my self, so keep at it and you will go far.

In your wardrobe, looking for Narnia.

Not bad for a first time. The base looks very nice. I like your choice of colours, purple ftw.

The face could use a wash of Ogryn Flesh, but the rest seems to be coming up pretty nicely. Good job

Sweet Jesus, Nurgle and Slaanesh in the same box!?
No, just Nurgle and Slaanesh, Jesus will be sold seperately in a blister.

Good first effort.

A wash may just about save this model but on future models you really need to use a lot less paint. The wash will only bring out the detail if there's detail to bring out i.e not filled with paint. The base is almost there too but when doing the next one use the drybrushing technique. (basically dry off your brush on some tissue till the paint is almost gone, then brush over the sand several times.)

Hope this helps, but like I said, good start!

Need more 's in my life!
