Important: Please follow the guidelines listed below before PM'ing your model!

An even better response to August's edition of the Miniature of the Month competition than the one before, with a record 15 entries in total. The winner of August's edition can be found at: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/393455.page. Remember that once the entry deadline day has passed, the 'Voting' thread will appear shortly after in the Painting and Modeling Showcase Forum (found at: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/forums/show/73.page) - so don't forget to vote for your favourite! Thanks again for showing continuing support for this competition, and on to September's edition we go...

UPDATE 27/09/11: Deadline day has been extended! Look at the last post for details!

Entries need to be PM'd to me by September 27th, 11pm (EST) with the prefix “[MotM]”. Example: [MotM] Tomb Kings Skeleton Chariots.

UK users -> 27th by 3am.
PST users -> 26th by 8pm.
German users -> 27th by 4am.
Japanese users -> 27th by 12 noon.

You can use any miniatures you want for this - they don't need to be new. However, they must be your own work!

But finally to the main event: the theme of the September 2011 MotM competition is....

Fire Team
For the first time, the MotM competition is giving you the chance to enter a whole squad of models! Forget the single model rules of the past, this is about multiple miniatures. The models can be selected from ANY part of your Codex, Army Book or Sourcebook. Due to the fact that there is more than 1 model, I will allow larger images to be entered. Only one image may be entered, but it may be a collated image of many smaller ones. The only rule is that there is more than one model. It can be anything from a full horde of Tyranid Hormagaunts, to an Imperial Guard Heavy Weapon Team or some Khorne Flesh Hounds. Please note: No vehicles may be entered in this category. Weapon platforms (for Eldar) don't count as vehicles for this, and I'll allow all bike units, but every other vehicle is not valid. Sentinel Squadrons, Land Speeder Squadrons etc. may NOT be entered. Only infantry models.

Good luck!

Here's the quick "How To" on mini photography:
Miniatures should be placed against a pale/muted background (preferably white paper, or a sheet, or even in a light box if you have one), with natural lighting. Use the "macro" function on your camera (usually a little flower) and take a shot of the whole thing. If you need to make the picture massive to get the quality of the shot perfect, then crop it in Photoshop, Paint or any other suitable editing software, and then post it. There are no rules on how you may pose your miniature, but as face-on as possible is preferable.

A single picture as always. However, due to the nature of this theme compared to others, the picture may be larger than normally accepted in order to accommodate the extra models.

Do the best you can to fit them into a single image. If this means taking many pictures of each and making them into a single composite image, do that.

does it have to be one single squad, or can it be like a Kill-team with different types of units?

EG: Tactical marine and an Assault marine

I'll allow entries stated as 'Kill Teams' providing they at least look like they could form a Kill-Team. Entries that include bunches of various models with no sense of collectivity (if that's even a word) won't be accepted (example: some Fire Warriors mixed with Chaos Marines).

Maybe dumb question, but considering I don't see any model shots in this thread, where are we posting the entrants?

As stated in the initial post, any entries get PM'd to me by the deadline.

Once the deadline passes, a 'Voting' thread will be posted in this forum with all the submitted entries for you to vote on. You get to choose the winners of these, not me.

Once a winner has been chosen, a 'Winner' thread will be posted in the P&M Showcase forum for display to fellow users.

Hope that answered your question and more!

An update!

Due to something I will be taking part in between the 30th of September and the 2nd of October (the dates I'd normally have spent making threads for voting etc), I have extended the deadline for entries as follows:

UK users -> 1st (Oct) by 3am.
PST users -> 30th by 8pm.
German users -> 1st (Oct) by 4am.
Japanese users -> 1st (Oct) by 12 noon.

The results will be collated and posted on the 3rd of October for 24 hours, afterwhich a winner will be chosen and presented on the 4th of October. That same day, the 'October MotM' thread will be posted.

So get those entries in!

No, the voting thread is still up in the P&M Showcase but voting has ended. I'll be posting the winner's thread up later today.
