While Finecast still appears to be a mixture of resin, diamonds and drugs in terms of pricing the new plastic models look OK. The Nurgle lord looks good but the Old blood is nothing special, looks like GW have decided to split Creed and Kell. While not a Guard player I see no reason to split the models, still GW must still be out of it after sniffing their own premium £5.99 glue.

Really like the Slyth model, sadly its finecast and I don't want to take the risk.

The DE look fabulous, it's a shame that they are totally useless in game. The saurus looks pretty good. The nurgle lord just looks like a fat guy.

The nurgle lord is beautiful, but doesn't strike me as the general of the army; just looks a bit to big and obtuse IMO, though I'll find some use for it in my Chaos host. The laemaen looks like one of the most feminine and attractive female models GW has made, and I'll have to convert her as some kind of squad leader once I eventually start DE next . I'm not a fan of the Sslth though, just looks too much like a real snake to me, it needs to be a bit more humanised than that; looks too much like an animal to be anything but that IMO.

Edit: After looking a bit closer at the nurgle lord, replacing the mask with some kind of bare head would make him look much less animal like.

I still cannot believe the $40 price tag on creed and kell. Glad I have them in metal. I pity future IG players.

Luckily for us guard players they suck, so we can just stick with our lord commissars and 4 melta CCS.

I'm desperately trying to think of a way I could convert that Lhamean to Duke Sliscus... I think it's beautiful as a female model. Why can't Mr Sliscus be female?! Maybe I could have the Duke's mistress or something and have it "counts as Duke".

I'm not a DE player but from a glance I thought that the DE chick was suppossed to be Lady Malis or however it's spelt. Lovely model. Tempted to buy and convert for one of my armies.

Rules aside, they're cool figs. While I can see a basis in the rules for why they were separated (they can now be fielded individually instead of together like before), charging $39 for the two of them is absolutely absurd. If anyone I know was going to buy Kell, I'd tell him to just buy the plastic command box and convert him from the bits there.

I just picked up my first finecast model (Abaddon) and it is flawless, I was expected something awful with what all I had heard. I also would highly suspected that models designed specifically for finecast from the get-go (ala these DE models) should be less prone to errors. From what I've heard though if you did get a badly bubbled model you can have GW send you a replacement, and it is also pretty easy to just look at the pack to check for errors if your LGS carries these.

Its also the price that is annoying, just not worth it. £9.50 is allot for one model but I may change my mind, I do like the Snake design but the armour just doesn't fit the model.

Finally, a good set of releases from GW! Those plasic figures are packed full of details, the saurus is especially cool looking. Well priced too!

I am not too fond of the DE characters but then I do not like most of the DE range, just a personal taste I suppose. If you are looking for good snakes in armour, Rackham did the best one I have ever seen!

Just to save some trouble for a future apologist, they're technically $39 USD with the upcoming news. They were $22 in metal prior to May 2011 (just google creed and kell and click on shopping to get GW's old price as the only "retailer" that shows up). They didn't get a price increase then since GW pulled almost all the metal figs from the 40k line a few weeks prior. So, the effective increase in retail price from May to September is 77% to gain the "benefits" of unbundling the characters and the change to resin. I've seen several sheets listing their finecast price this summer as $22 also (see link below) but I'm not 100% sure they came out in finecast in reality (I didn't see any locally at two stores but that's hardly the be all/end all of stock).

Creed and Kell can both be fielded as individual characters now.

Seems kind of silly that they can be fielded without one or the other in the force.

slightly off-topic but I am really liking some of those paint jobs. Simple clean precise painting - really shows the detail on the model.

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games.

Great female model, and the nurgle guy look perfect. Indeed, when i first saw it is said to myself "hey, bits!!!". It is not so great when you see the sprue... 8 pounds for a mini sprue with a monopose model? Serious, they got to be kidding...

O, yeah, they are GW...

on the forum. Obviously

Meh, the new Saurus hero does look pretty cool, but I like the old metal ones for seem reason. Dunno why, I just find them to be more impressive.

The Dark Eldar models look awesome. I think the Dark Eldar maybe the best modeled army ATM. Hell, I even like the Ssylth (though I do admit I was expecting something a little more...alien.).

It is all in how you approach the game mentally.

Every 40K game is potentially a "What if" snapshot of what might be a much larger conflit or a battle that has been in progress prior to the"start" of the tabletop game action.

It is quite possible that perhaps you are only fielding one of them because the other is ALREADY dead, etc.

When gamers used to actually focus a little more on the fluff and telling a story with each game this sort of thing was less of an issue as a littl epre-game story fluff could set the scene.

Now its mostly just number crunching and chest thumping...

I think the armour its more about customization, even though the Sslyth or Lhamaean doesnt have any weapons upgrade, you can give them another look with bits from other Kabalites warriors so they dont all look the same (remember you can field up to 3 Sslyths and 2 Lhamaeans for every Archon).

"They shall be My Hammer, the sword in My hand, the gauntlet about My fist, the bane of My foes and woes of the treacherous. When no others may stand beside them, they shall fight. Only the greatest shall enter their ranks, for unto them do I entrust stewardship over the Gates of Hell."

I know that, but it still bugs me that they can be fielded separately.

The DE models are great. i also really like the lizardman model. I'll definitely pick up the DE models. An Archon court will be cool for display even if it's terrible in game terms.

The best part is that Creed is a one-piece model with nothing extravagant to make him more costly, and yet when converted over to Finecost he might as well have diamond dust in the mix.

I don't know what about the Nurgle Lord makes him into a 'lord'. He just looks like a big bruiser to me. Perfect as a smaller Lord's bodyguard/enforcer. I still really like him though - and viva la more small plastic character models!

Anyway, all these new Dwarf Finecost models - are they new models, or just re-do's of the old metal ones?
