I like the DE Poisoner model, except for the static nature of the pose. I'm surprised more people didn't jump on the whole Lady Malys idea, though.

Ooooh... More plastic characters! Love the Nurgle Lord and the Lizzie. Looks like they could definitely pull off a Deathguard upgrade kit in plastic now. The new DE stuff is great as well. Ugh...Finecast. Sure its resin; which I personally love as a medium, but the jacked up prices really?
Not a bad release at all. Honestly, I like that we have models trickling in each month from across the game lines. At least their always new stuff coming now.

Yeah but how long is that really gonna last? They'll be back to their same old release schedule in no time. Especially for Dark Eldar, now that they've redone the entire range they're probably thinking "Good enough, now we don't have to worry about that ever again!" and won't touch them for another 10+ years.
Which means no affordable wracks ever.

The Nurgle lord confuses me because it's not an ugly-ass model and it doesn't have a $40 price tag. It's almost like GW wanted to sell them.

Definitely metal models moved over to resin. The standard bearer used to be part of a two model kit with a dwarf lord/thane included.

Any idea how much that unbundling is raising the price of the complete "old" box? So far our record is a 77% price increase from the previous metal offering.

Good Lord... I just saw the cost of Kell here in Oz. AUD$33 (that’s US$35 or 60% more expensive than our American friends). When I bought Creed and Kell, in a single blister, it was for $28 or $29. For the pair. Now it’s $28 for Creed alone, and a further $33 for Kell. For single piece models. You know, even with the ever-rising price of tin I don’t think that metal models would have reached this level of price this quickly.

It's the new resin. The chemical make up of the new Finecost material includes unicorn tears and sasquatch turds which naturally make it expensive. It's even worse for Australia as those creatures as obviously not native to the continent necessitating an additional markup.

But that doesn't explain the plastic characters releases. They could easily continue releasing plastic character minis for WF armies for years. I'm sure once GW gets around to it, there will be tons of 40K plastic blisters as well.

Is it just me or is Warhammer fantasy battle seriously slippiing in terms of the creativity of the models? The Saurus is really, really meh. All he has is crude gold crud all over him - I could come close to doing as well myself with a plastic saurus, and I'm lousy with greenstuff. Older lizard champions had feathers, beads and such like. The nurgle lord is better, but human chaos has really gotten much less interesting than it was 10-15 years ago. The new ogres have some interesting bits, but they lack theme compared to the older models like the maneaters - they just seem to be covered in crud. The dark elf line has seen some improvement, and the undead, but other stuff is pretty meh.
40K, on the other hand, has been solidly moving forward with better, more interesting models in each new round. Who do you know is saying, "hey, I'm collecting the old dark eldar?"

I see your point in relation to the Nurgle dude and the Lizardman hero - the Nurgle guy is ugly (in a bad way), and the Lizardman is kind of awkward. The Nurgle model is particularly poor. Something like the Nurgle characters from years ago would have been much better - like the fly-headed model, or something with .
I don't agree on the Ogres though. The new Ogres are very sophisticated kits. I picked up the Scrap Launcher yesterday, intending to loot it for bits for my Orks (I sold off my Ogres a while ago, something I'm now regretting). It's really well designed, and I'm tempted to build it rather than pillage it. The new plastic Ogre models also provide a lot of scope for customising e.g. building characters entirely from plastic. And the new Firebelly is ( IMO) one of the better large WHFB models we've seen for a while.

I agree about the Saurus. Just looks like someone mixed a few Saurus and Temple Guard parts together and GSed an armoured big toe. I think i've got something similar from when I made an Oldblood out of Saurus and TG parts.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. A month or two ago it was a limit of 3 per customer, I guess more people have started to realise that its pointless to buy them online because you can check them for defects first. We now get the "honour" of being able to buy 2 extra models per transaction.
I'm surprised that the Lhamaean comes as single piece. Lady Malys conversions will still be easy as it's resin though, finally I have a reason to be thankful they've replaced metal! As long as they're cast properly

I think that the Lady Malys idea is so obvious that people just don't mention it. However, I would never use her as my Lady Malys, after all, part of this hobby is having unique models. and a Lady Malys made of a non-customisable model from the same range would mean that your Unique character is looking the same as the guy at the next table. Personally, I used Queen Ileosa with some conversions.

Finecast is easily convertable due to the nature of the softer resin
That above model is also "one" pose.. What's the difference? Do you expect to see an army of Archon courts all using the exact same model?

I think what he meant is that the Lhamaean is not only a single pose model, but it comes in one single piece. You can't just leave off the arms that come with it and use others, you'd actually have to cut them off the torso. All the other Court models come in several pieces and the Ur-Ghur's and Medusae have two different head options, so kitbashing them would be really simple.
