Probably the most derided Citadel character model of all time.
Ive had this hanging around for about twenty years and it was fully assembled for probably over 12 months so it was well overdue.
It was a fairly quick job but i think it turned out ok.

Finland... the country next to Sweden? No! That's Norway! Finland is to the east! No! That's Russia!

Pretty awesome dude!
Love the Old Skool paintjob.

Sweet Jesus, Nurgle and Slaanesh in the same box!?
No, just Nurgle and Slaanesh, Jesus will be sold seperately in a blister.

I know everyone hates it, but he's my favorite games workshop miniature. He's the first oldschool one I got, oh so many moons ago, and commanded my undead legion for a long time. Such a cool miniature.

People always get so hung up over the head, they ignore the pretty decent sculpt work elsewhere. I love the intricate details he has.

This is a line up of my Nagash and stand-ins over the years.
Left=giant wraith made of putty that got used a few times when his stats first came out, then Grenedier Death giant which was my main Nagash stand in , now we have official Nagash and finally Sauron which i think is the easiest substitute for those that dont like the Nagash model.

Also the necromancer sauron model would be a good stand in with or without convertion.

I'd add another colour to his crown and to his chestplate to break up the overall dark colour, but otherwise it looks fine.

He looks good, you draw attention away from the head, mine definately looks to be of the clown variety. I didn't paint mine, I got it painted and quite liked the job, I didn't see the point in repainting.

I have deliberately kept the range of colours drab to get away from the happy clown in a dunces cap look of the official painted mini , i see Nagash as not caring for his appearance and in his description his armour is black so i wanted it to be one colour and pretty dark.

All ive really done is position the arms slightly differently (i would have had to pin and putty anyway so no extra work) and painted the upper head as part of the helmet which makes the pronounced cheeks look less odd.
Im pretty happy with it and im glad you approve.

See, that looks great. I see nothing wrong with that on a fantasy table. I think it was just the eavy metal paintjob that killed the model.

He was awesome when he was last in the game. One magic item gave him a magic level +1, making him a level 5 wizard and no one else could equal that, that I can recall. So he was always a level better than everyone else on the field. Then he caused terror so many troops would just run away, the ones that got into combat needed a good character with a magic weapon to stand a chance because his WS S and T stats were so high and was nigh unkillable anyway with magic saves and many wounds.

And if all that wasn't bad enough, he always had all the coolest undead spells and could incinerate your best characters in close combat with 'hand of dust' and raise skeleton warriors from the dead quicker than you could kill them.

Good times...

I've got this model sitting on my table. I may have to give him a bit of paintwork after seeing yours all done up. Very cool.

Go for it, im sure if you stick to a fairly dark colour scheme it will turn out well.

Its not bad. The highlights on the cloak don't really bring out any depth in the model.

They are supposed to make the cloak look tatty as i didnt think a weathering effect would work with the purple.

Sorry but I don't like your Nagash. You are correct the model is quite ugly and you as a painter have to try to make it looks better , but you failed that task.

I try to explain why

1 too much shades or even glazes had been poured on the model - it looks like wet. You have to dry brush it after it had been shaded or don't use shades on clothes at all (more difficult way)

2. no highlighting - small details are not clearly visible, so only I managed to see it's green gems on crown. Perform highlighting for the shapes of weapon and armour to make them look better.

3. basing. It's ridiculous. The Supreme Lord of Undead stands on plane ground with 2 skeletal hands and ribs ;( I believe you have to hone your base decorating skills it will make your works better.

Again sorry for my negative feedbacks

uhmmm im realy not that .. ok with the model.
the paintjob is far from awesome.. its just.. glazed?
why do you do a quick job an a miniature you have sitting around for 20 years?
i think he deserves better.. also needs matt varnish etc etc.. more basing options, better highlights, little bit blending
