I prefer the dark scheme, but I wouldn't know it was a Space Wolf if you didn't tell me.

The question isn't why do I kill. The question is, why I don't kill everybody.

The dark scheme has kind of a Black Templar vibe going for it.

But as a traditionalist +1 for the light scheme.

As always, enjoy and have fun!

As someone else who runs a dark color scheme wolves army I support the darker ones.

My test color run, the only serviceable pics I have of them. You are obviously the better painter.

Dark all the way. More grimdark, and as we all know. More grimdark is better.

turn around...

I agree with the other posts where the dark scheme looks better. You could always tosh a wash over the grey mini and that might help 'darken' the grey, since like Mikewars85 said it is kinda' bland next to your great reflective gold trimming!

Definitely the dark one. Who cares if they look traditional?

While I think the darker scheme looks better, I think the lighter scheme looks more like Space Wolves. Is there any chance of using a wash to darken the lighter scheme a bit (to less dark than the dark scheme, but still a bit darker)?

Similarly, you could paint orks very well, but yellow, and I would still prefer green orks which were painted with less skill. One looks right to me, and the other doesn't. Now, if you are doing some 'counts as' chapter which uses Space Wolf rules, I'd definitely go with the darker paint job.

Thanks all for your opinion! it is almost even, looks to me to do a 'counts as' successor chapter, which there is only one, the blood wolves, which is kinda stupid theres only one, or keep the current scheme, still thinking on it, might decide soon, but once again thanks for voting!

I tend to agree if there is nothing on the armour to break the grey it gets bland, and is hard for me to highlight with keeping that look it gets, and it's a pain when you have to do multiple layer to keep it smooth

I use adeptus battle grey, washed heavily with devlian mud, makes it almost a black, but with some grey in it, almost like a light charcoal color

I might end up doing that, as the bright grey looks good to me it falls to look kinda bland and burns you out quickly while painting, and i find that the NMM Gold really stands out in the darker scheme, as in the lighter scheme the light color fight each other for attention

Being a slightly less than traditionalist myself of SWs, I like the dark paint scheme. The grey does look quite plain.
My own guys are a bit darker than traditional as well, tbh. I'll have to post pictures 1 of these days...

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

I like the darker color as it sets your army out. There is no reason to rigidly stick to baby blue.

Either way, I am glad you didn't go with the awful, sky-blue Space Wolves.

As a more "space wolfy" space wolf fan, I would go with the lighter one. I kind of like the "light and fun, lets romp across the snow and slaughter our enemy" look over "rar, we are dark wolves, smash!" look.

I'd personally go for the darker one beacuse i think it looks better plus i don't like the idea of seeing loads of players with the same schemes.

I have to say i prefer the lighter scheme to the darker one. It seems more wolfy too me.. as some others have said with the darker one, just a quick glance and i would not have known they were space wolves.

Oh stop complaining, its for the greater good... Now get in the box!

For me much of the allure of space wolves is that they are the epitome of pop-cultures fabrication of viking warriors as serious BAMFs. This version of viking warriors is very grimdark, and I want my army to be grimdark too.
