Get kroot to screen both your units and your partners from combat. Keep them in cover. Combine those Broadsides. Its a waste of points to have two units of 1. I suggest you get hammerheads to take out swarms and generally just for their awesomeness. I'm not exactly sure what necron are good at but from the little knowledge i have on them you should focus on taking out anything with AV or have long ranged weaponry that can put out pie plates or that monolith. Firewarriors aren't very good especially when your partner has 30 warriors. The minimum of one squad with 6 should be fine if you field kroot.

I have more firepower in my 1000 pt list than you do in your 1500pt list. There is no reason for MSU. They give up kill points and are easy to kill. Just group those crisis suits together. Burst cannons also once again are not only repetitive with the fire warriors but also his necron warriors. XV8s have access to the best weaponry in our codex. Use them!

Hope at least a bit of my opinion helps your thought process with the list. Good luck!

Sorry i forgot to put the Quanitiy of each unit....EDIT update

As well I have the burst connons because there is a few of Iguard and Ork players. Also I needed to save points in order to feild 11 crisis, 1 commander, 4 broadside, and still have 3 decent troops.

Also cover isnt as important as it sounds at the start because of all of the 4+ in saves. That is of course untill I lose those drones.

Consider hammerheads for taking care of swarms? Much more effective than burst cannons and keeps your suits farther back.

Field 9 broadsides.

That's right. You heard me.

Field 9 broadsides, 9 XV8's in the deathrain configuration, a XV8 Commander and whatever minimal troops you can afford.

Your necron friend should spam destroyers and monoliths. Spam them mercilessly.

This will allow you to alphastrike the bejeezus out of the opponents transports and then annihilate the footsloggers as they crawl up the board.

Necrons are possibly the worst codex in 40k. Tau are a close second. Spam your booty off. Spam like you've never spammed before.

If you can fit 2 Monoliths and a full destroyer wing + a pound of necron warriors + 9 Broadsides and 10 Crisis Suits into 1500 points each.. you might stand a chance. You might also stand a chance at being the cheesiest mo's in cheeseville.

Well said. The only poblem is I dont have that many Broad sides and my partner lacks a second monolith.

Actiually, CJ, I'm trying to get the term "alpha-strike" back to what it belongs: Turn 1 Assault.

Neither dead robots nor tau can do that so ...

Or you can tell me to knock it off and have another beer.

This part of ceku's advice:

... is really good. Have the tau guns make up for what the necrons lack. High STR (MPs) and AP2 (PRs).

Pick your nits elsewhere Bro-Ek! You know what I mean!

The point, of course, is that if you bring that kind of AT to bear, you will be able to dismount and disrupt a significant portion (hopefully all) of their transports T1. Allowing your killy units to have plenty of pew pew time.

A lot of your list would be easier if you just wrote:

Shas'el PR/AFP, two FireKnife bodyguards, SDrones, BK

Elite:
3 FireKnives, Bonded & 2 SDs
3 FireKnives, Bonded & 2 SDs
3 Deathrains, Bonded & 2 SDs

Or such.

That 7th FW is pointless. 2 die and it's Morale. At 6 guys, if 2 die, it's Morale. And at the min 6 guys, it's not like they're for offensive firepower anyway. I'd chop 'em, and maybe put points into an 'Ui and BK.

I'd shunt two Shield Drones to the Broadsides, as your XV8s have JSJ for a degree of safety, and the XV88s don't, so they'll need the SDs more than the Elites. Be sure to have your FWs go into Reserve for safety.

I've written a lot of lists in my time here, and the best way I've found to write them is like this:

Shas'el, Missile Pod, Plasma Rifle, Multitracker - XX
Shas'ui(3), Missile Pod, Plasma Rifle, Multitracker, Team Leader with HW Drone Controller, 2 x Gun Drones - XXX
Fire Warriors(6), Devilfish with Disruption Pod - XXX

One line per unit, using brackets to identify number of models per squad, only mentioning upgrades and listing multiple special weapons as "Weapon x 2".

It makes things so much easier to read than:

3 Crisis Suits/PR/MP/MT - XX (which is just lazy)
OR
Crisis Suit x 3
Plasma Rifle x 3
Missile Pod x 3
Multitracker x 3 (which just looks horrible to read)

That's harsh, dude. Naw, just being turned into Penitent Arco-Flagellants ought to be enough.
