I really like it apart from the dozer blade. Without it it would look a lot like a Jagdpanzer 38 Hetzer.

I think the destroyer was mostly taken from the J panzer. However the dozer blade makes it unique as Im pretty sure that not many people will of done this to them and it is a bit fluffy as they are ment to hide days before a battle and the blade would let them dig themselves into position

It was however a hard choice as I to love them without it.

Cool- big fan of the model and the burn effect on the muzzle is excellent- very realistic.

Thanks for the positive feedback.

Sealing tape mate like what you get on cables the black stuff. Is great for masking and then you just touch it up a bit when you take it off.

Use masking tape.
Seriously, you would not believe the difference simply using some of Tamiya's masking tape does for these kinds of precision details.

Truffle:
Fantastic job on the Destroyer. I like the burn effect and the simple color scheme... but the Siege Shield from the Vindicator is detracting from the overall piece(in my opinion), as it seems kinda big.

Might be a trick of the angle though.

Yet to decide if I want to keep that blade on.

On the plus side it covers up alot of the crap and damage the model has taken over time.

Like the paintjob, the dirt encrusted bottoms of the tanks could look better with some practice but overall they look nice.

Tremendous work - especially the scorched metal effect on the barrels. How are you doing that, if you don't mind sharing?

Thank you all very much.

To the dirt comment it was just ment to be a light dusting as they are urban guard. I have a marine army caked in mud and that just was not the look i was going for here. I am however going to look into weathering powders so keep your eyes open for more dust.

Here is a link to a thread i have about the gun burns. Page one includes a tutorial step by step.

Hope that helps

Very nice...how did you do the grey? what colors? drybrushing for the highlights? Any washes? Oh heck, how about a full tutorial. Most grey tanks don't pop, yours do.

Glad you both like them.

Here is the start of that guide.

Basicly today I have paint striped cleaned repaired and washed a tank ready for me to start painting. I thought that I should include this so you can see how these are starting out as they are not new although some are in a better state than others.

So here is the tank with its old paint job done by whoever owned it before me.

It was basicly codex grey with some ink work.

Here are some photos after it had it first paint strip.

Not to bad but a bit of a state.

Here it is after the second one and a good wash in hot water to get the slime off.

Note that storage section at the back was a bit of a gunky state and the fuel tanks in it looked crap so I removed it.

Here are the pics of the tank with any repair work done the light refitted and that storage unit removed. This is now ready for a base coat spray and painting.

So I hope thats an alright start for you guys. I will try and spray it tonight. CC?

Right guys here is that step by step painting guide.

1 After getting a nice black base coat do a fairly light drybrush of codex grey. I use a standard drybrush for this not a tank brush.

2 Repeat this with skull white.

That is the base armour painted and highlighted all In 2 easy steps.

3 Next the metal work. Paint anything you want metal with a solid coat of boltgun metal

4 Then give it a really good heavy coat of badab black

5 Then repeat this step with devlan mud

And thats the metal done.

6 Next step is to add the company markings. Start by painting the colour that will make up the sides regal blue.

7 Then using tape mask off a straight line the side closest to the front of the tank. You can you the indent on the other side to make the far edge of the middle colour. When this is done paint a codex grey stripe to form the base colour.

8 After this has dried apply 3 watered down coats of space wolves grey onto the codex grey basecoat.

At this stage you may need to do some touch up work on the line and any back parts inside it.

9 Now we will do the gun burns. firstly roughly coat the barrel in dwarf bronze.

10 Then add a purple to the area in the same fashion but a bit closer to the barrels end.

11 Repeat this stage with regal blue and then chaos black getting closer to the end every time.

12 Now give the whole barrel 2 good heavy coats of badab black over the section showing burn. Once this has dried stipple some dwarf bronze at the back of the burn to blend over the wash stain line that will of formed.

And after that All you do is add the id number. This is done with vinal numbers and letters sprayed skull white then simple added to the tank and add some dirt. I give my tanks a light drybrush of bestial brown using a tank brush to get the affect seen above.

Right I hope that works for you guys. Any more questions that I have not covered?

CC please.
